Happy 50th! Fifties are fabulous years — enjoy! (One of the biggest gifts of life after 50 is that it’s official: You don’t have to give a flip about what other people think or what you’re “supposed to” do or wear or think. Turns out, other people don’t really care and most don’t even notice. What a relief. Life after 50 is more relaxed and you can really savor all the marvelous & magical little things in life.) Love your collab with Toni! You’re two of my favorite crochet goddesses. Many thanks!

Wow! after 45 years of crocheting, I've FINALLY learned how to make a foundation chain. Thank you so much, this tutorial was great

Chainless foundation is ALWAYS my go-to when it's just a case of chaining and then the next row is simple sc, hdc, dc or tc crochets. I learned that 4 years ago and haven't looked back, lol.

first of all, i was SO excited to see both you and toni in the thumbnail!!! heading over to her video immediately after this!

i have an alternative tip to the chainless foundation -- i'm also very by the book and a little stuck in my ways, so i've found if you aren't up for the chainless foundation row, going up a hook size or two for the chain can help with the tension issue. i know people love the chainless foundation, but i've just never been able to make it work for me.

Thank you for truly explaining the foundation stitch. Have struggled to learn it for years. Now I think I can!

Love the chain less foundation chain. I'm going to try it for sure. I usually do the chain with a size larger hook, but your hint is so much better. Thank you!

I made that foundation chain for the first time recently for a baby blanket. It’s a great, stretchy foundation chain but it took me forever to get across! Practice will probably make it speed up I guess. Otherwise, I need to use a size larger hook for the foundation chain to avoid the dreaded trapezoid! That mattress joining stitch is magical. I made a granny square sweater and joined them that way. Worked great! Thanks, Elise. Oh, and I love the gradient greens of your granny squares! New color scheme unlocked. 😊🧶💕

I do the foundation sc or dc for baby blankets. Not only is it bit stretchy but the first row of an edging pattern is better at the bottom end. Your exuberance is infectious. 😄

Thanks for the hacks from the book. It's on my list to buy next month. Foundation stitches are the BEST!
