We've got a different kind of playtest for you all today! For the first half of the Tomasi Concerto opening excerpt, we’ve got our guy Evan playing on a brand-new Yamaha YTR-9445NYS-YM III New York C Trumpet. For the second half, we had him switch to the Yamaha YTR-9445NYS-YM-BR III New York C Trumpet.

This is just a short first-look style playtest, so nothing definitive — but you can already hear some differences! Both models are exceptional, each with its own distinct character. We’ve got longer playtests and deeper insights on the BR series coming soon (and from what we’ve played in the shop, they’re absolutely incredible!). Let us know what you’d like to see next!

Both played models are currently available on our online store as well — see our redirect below for more info:

Damn, dude! Magnificent! Pardon my ignorance, but what does the BR stand for/what is different in their construction? The second one seems turbocharged!

Sounds like two completely different horns...as if the BR is higher pitched. Brilliant...literally!

The new model has a more kind of sound.

The second horn is decidedly the better one -- for Tomasi.

Amazing technique and crystal clear tone. Just awesome all around. The piece lacks a soul though.

How about doing this comparison with the Bb NY models if possible.

Do they do that for their saxophones, too?

Muß ein echter Profi sein ?
Er testet meine neue Trompete.
Klingt gut - die nehm ich.
