"They were one of the finest fucking rock bands of their time. They were as important as anybody else who's ever been, ever. Revivify Fanny. And I will feel that my work is done."
-David Bowie, 2002

Here's another great strutter from Fanny, a cover of Ike & Tina's funky ode to lust. After their debut in 1970, Fanny toured and won converts everywhere. Lowell George (Little Feat), Jeff "Skunk" Baxter (Steely Dan, Doobie Brothers), and David Bowie jammed with them often. Much attention is rightly given to the Millington sisters, Jean and June, who ran the band. But pianist Nickey Barclay is a wonder herself. From barrelhouse blues and boogie woogie, to piano ballads and funky clav, she had astounding chops. And on top of that she belted out many of their best rockers. This sly and lascivious vamp flips the script on the groupie scene.
