----------------------------------------------------
Standing on a hilltop, wishing on a quick star
Enemies all around me
Got to make a rest stop, wonder where my friends are
It's about time they found me

I'm caught in the middle of a shooting war
And I can't ever gather what I'm fighting for
And I hate to imagine what they've got in store
Somebody put the heat on me
Who could it be?

Stranded by the seaside, waiting out the high tide
Taking a short vacation
Wading through the hot crowd, laughing at 'em out loud
Crying in desperation

I'm caught in the current and I'm going down
And I ain't got a will and I'm about to drown
And I hope they can forward all my bag to town
Somebody's out to blow my mind
They're doing fine

All I need is some time to myself
And a place in the country

Waiting by the highway, people going my way
Making like they ignore me
Running from the rat race, smiling with a false face
Searching the road before me

I'm hot on the trail of something I can't find
And I can't pay my ticket and I'm running blind
And I think I discovered I've been left behind
Somebody wants to use my name
It's a shame - ain't it a shame

All I need is some time to escape
And a place in the country

Fanny was an American all-female band, active in the early 1970s. They were one of the first notable rock groups to be made up entirely of women, the third to sign with a major label (after Goldie & the Gingerbreads and the Pleasure Seekers), and the first to release an album on a major label (in 1970). They achieved two top 40 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 and released five albums.

Sisters June Millington (born April 14, 1948, Manila, Philippines) and Jean Millington (born May 25, 1949, Manila, Philippines) moved with their family from the Philippines to Sacramento, California in 1961. In high school they formed an all-girl band called the Svelts with June on guitar, Jean on bass, Addie Lee on guitar, and Brie Brandt on drums. Brandt was later replaced by Alice de Buhr (born September 4, 1949, Mason City, Iowa). When the Svelts disbanded, de Buhr and Lee formed another all-female group called Wild Honey. The Millington sisters later joined this band, which played Motown covers and eventually moved to Los Angeles.

In January 1970, Nickey Barcley was asked to join Fanny as a singer and keyboardist. She was one of the main songwriters and lead singers in the group, and appeared on all their albums, adding soul, blues and funk influences to the group's overall sound.

When I die and go to Rock and Roll Heaven I shall ask, "which way to Fanny Rock Lounge?" and then pretty much just hang out and listen. I won't forget to tell them they were my absolute favorite rock band on youtube.

The teamwork here is so great, it's not just that each player is awesome in their own right. Alice de Buhr's eyeline says it all - she is watching each player who is contributing most at any given time, and adjusting her phrasing and nuances right along to them. That is a dream drummer for any band to have.

During the keyboard solo the drummer is watching her like a hawk for the signal. Very tight band, I’m impressed.

In no way can these women be given the praise of accomplishment they deserve . This IS the best undiscovered music of our time. These women are legend & heroes. Why are they not widely celebrated? And argument begins….. now!

back in 71 I was 20 yrs old and followed music but I have never heard of this group until 2 days ago. I am totally impressed. Have been utubing for the said last 2 days and just can not get enough of them. I hope some body does a doco or film or book to tell us all about them. They ROCK!

They were so tight man. I second what everyone says, super underrated band who didn't get the recognition they deserved. They were beautiful women that could play better than most all-male bands. A few egos got hurt. Period.

Before the Runaways. Before the Go-Go's. Before Girlschool. Before the Bangles. Before Vixen. Before The Warning.
There was Fanny.

Absolutely BAD ASS. I mean holy smokes these gals shred and are totally on point. WTf, why aren't the in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? Someone has to do something about that. Listen to this!!!! the Guitar Solos are incredible, the Drums and Keyboards!!! Cant stop the feet tapping and the fingers drumming.

The guitar solo got me pretty worked up, but the piano solo made me destroy all my furniture. Amazing stuff!

June, Jean, Nickey and Alice…. This performance alone cemented my love for this incredible band. I’m so glad BC hasn’t “taken down” these performances… they are too important and EXCITING to lose!

I wish this whole session was available as an album. These songs are brilliant.

The reason Fanny is SO great is their "attack" on the songs they sing and play. They leave NOTHING behind and play them such fierceness, as if their lives depend on it. This "gunfight at the o.k. corral " type playing and the ladies are all Wyatt Earp !!!!

This song kicks ass! Plain and simple! It's criminal these ladies were forgotten and never received the credit they deserved--they belong in the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame!

My God. Each member is just an absolute POWERHOUSE!!! Alice is such a force on those drums, Jean with those incredible bass lines, June just shredding that guitar, and Nickey is like Janis Joplin, but as a master keyboardist also. SUPERGROUP!!!

Holy goodness gracious, just give these ladies the rights to use this footage anyway they see fit. Seriously just give it back to them and let them do what they will, its a crying shame to keep it from them.
