“Im sorry that you’re offended” is not an apology.

When my husband died, I didn't want anyone to post about it until I could process it. His friend who thinks he's an influencer announced his death and posted literally 5 minutes after he died.

Then now, almost 2 years later, another friend who is an influencer talked about my late husband and said "it was great to connect with [dead husband's name] friend." When he didn't even bother to reach out to see LATE HUSBAND'S CHILD. That's how to connect instead of posting about it.

They are so disconnected.

Narcissism doesn't apologize, it blames everyone else while claiming victimhood.

They DO know how to act. The problem is they don’t care.

Rolling around on the Bride’s veil then pushed Women aside to catch the bouquet ( which traditionally is for unmarried WOMEN) … Sorry, not sorry, is disturbing behavior.

Vlogging at someone else’s wedding is like going through someone’s camera roll. You’re uncovering something that the person may want to keep private.

Had a friend post pics of “her wedding experience” of another friend -she did not post any actual “wedding pics”, just basically pics of other friends and herself but she also made sure she asked the bride first!

some of them are more like influenza than an influencer.

Influencers need to relearn how to be normal.

A non-apology apology, sometimes called a backhanded apology, empty apology, nonpology, or fauxpology, is a statement in the form of an apology that does not express remorse for what was done or said, or assigns fault to those ostensibly receiving the apology.

I didn't give any special instructions at my wedding, and so many people posted photos of my wedding on Facebook the next day. And not just photos of themselves, they posted me and my husband saying our vows, cutting the cake, the first dance. It was really upsetting. Makes me whish I could go back in time and tell people not to do that crap.

The worst part about this is the unwillingness to take responsibility for their own actions.

A wedding is the ONE day where it is ALL about the couple. Not anyone else, JUST the couple. That is a universal thing that everyone understands. If you can't put your camera down for ONE day and celebrate your "friends", you're the problem. You can't even apologize for the mistake and instead BLAME the couple for publicly agreeing with everyone else after you PUBLICLY shared their special day before they ever could. I feel so bad because they're supposed to be enjoying their honeymoon (a once in a lifetime thing for most) and they have to deal with this. The "influencer mindset" is truly a disease.

I wonder if this is why I don’t see many influencers from my country (South Africa). We have an act called the POPPI act that makes it illegal to post media featuring someone without their permission.

I got married 15 years ago, almost to the day. I can't even express how grateful I am that we united before social media destroyed society.

Regardless, glad you are calling out atrocious behavior and worse apologies.
