Honor Walk at East Tennessee Children's Hospital

Their silence says more than words ever could.

When a family makes the courageous decision to donate their child’s organs, staff show their respect for the family by lining the halls to the operating room.

This is a family’s hardest day; their selfless decision will give life to others. They deserve this tribute.

The Honor Walk shows families they are not alone.

Just did it this in February this year for my 9 yr old niece. Love you Kimberly. I don't know if I would have the courage my sister did but I am proud of her courageous decision. Kimberly lives on just in different ways now. Organ donation is the way to go. She is dancing with the angels and singing for God.

I’m a registered organ donor in spite of my spouse’s need to see a whole body if he should survive me. Due to very complicated, non-treatable autoimmune disorders, I will leave my remains for science in for the health community to try and find causes for the things that are wrong with me. Like the parents of this young one, donating organs keeps that person alive for generations to come.

To the parents of this child, you have my condolences. I also want to say thank you for your compassion. Your child has wings and is seated at the right hand of God. Be blessed.

I worked in ICU many years and treated patients donating their organs by keeping them alive for the transplant and never saw this. It is awesome.
