Ashley, 6, had a chronic condition. When it was clear that she would not survive, her family decided to donate little Ashley's organs to help others. Staff from Salah Foundation Children's Hospital and Broward Health Medical Center paused to honor Ashley as she was wheeled into surgery.

More than 2,000 children are waiting for an organ transplant and over 500 are younger than 6 years old, according to the Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network.

This is one brave, strong, generous family. I can’t imagine having to make such a difficult decision. While it’s a story of grace and strength, it’s also a heartbreaking story of the loss of a little girl. There are so many feelings.

These honor walks are always heartbreaking to see but when it’s a little kid, I have no words. I can’t begin to imagine the pain that the parents are going through. I just hope that they know that they raised a little hero.❤️

Seeing her family follow her as for a funeral is heartbraking :'( . Even nurses who should be immune to such dramatic situations couldn't help crying. Now she is protecting her parents from above and living in through her donated organs <3 .

My now five year old niece, recieved a heart transplant three years ago. I cant imagine how hard it was for the family to make that live saving decision. To save as many live as possible, when your losing your most loved one. I really think that to make that decision in adults it's really hard, I cant imagine how hard and painful is for parents to donate their little babies organs. But thanks to that, my niece is alive now. We know that it is not permanent, she will have to go through another transplant after ten years, but we appreciate live. It is really hard to hope or wish for your child to live, when you know someone else's child has to die for yours to live. May God bless all those people who make the hard decision to donate their organs, and may God bless their families.
