Xi doesn't want to rule for life, but he surely wants to leave an important mark in Chinese history like his predecessors did since Mao, Deng, Jiang and Hu; and like all the great kings and emperors in Chinese history. Unification of the country is the single most glorious achievement a leader can ever make for the country and its people. In all Chinese historical accounts, the ones who unified the country (no matter by force or other means) are praised highly and remembered by generations. The ones that lost territories or bent the knees to the barbarians are hated and ashamed by all. Xi wants to achieve the highest honor in his third term, and us the people are supporting and marching with him and his congress. This is the mindset of Chinese people, the ancient civilization and one of the most resilient race. Deal with it, the west! Your time is over!

It is not how long you rule but how well. Singapore's Lee Kuan Yew was Prime Minister for 31 years while Trump was President for just 4 years. Look at the results and not the format.

While the ABC comments are open why doesn't the ABC ask the Prime Minister what his reaction would be to China invading Taiwan. Yet again that question might be to hard for the most woke Australian news channel.
