I have been a silent watcher for years now and wanted to finally upgrade from my MacBook Pro from 2013. Was waiting for the 15” air m4 and was also not happy with the price compared to some of the specs. Still wanted to pull the trigger but saw your comment and looked for alternatives: base m4 pro was available for 1649 here in Germany. The m4 air 15” with just the upgrade for storage would be 1749 here - that’s nuts. After reconsidering I now ordered the MacBook Pro M4 Pro for 1999. Thank you so much for supporting my decision and the honesty, while so many others fall into the hype train.

The Yoga Slim 7 Aura Edition is one of my favorites in this video! A bit sad that the Ultra 7 258V version costs 1470€ amd the Ultra 7 256V costs 1200€, but that is the case for all laptops in my country (germany) - they all cost 200+ bucks more.
Still a great video, thanks for putting in the hard work to deliver amazing quality reviews! :)

Thanks Josh for all your reviews and guides! I ended up getting a good deal on a full spec HP Omnibook Ultra Flip for $1600 and really like it! Fortunately Linux driver support has improved since your original review and basically everything just "works" after the first round of updates.

The Yoga Pro 9i is a smashing success for Windows content creators. It's the only one I would recommend if someone doesn't want a M4 Pro MacBook Pro.

I agree with a previous commenter, please review the Lenovo ThinkPad X9 15 inch. Not that many have done a review of the X9, and it seems really really good. My iPad Pro from 2018 has 120 Hz refresh rate. I can’t believe the MacBook Air M4 only has 60 Hz in 2025. Yes, I agree with Josh. I can’t deal with the low travel keyboard of the macbook air. The X9 places itself between a MacBook Air and a MacBook Pro. I never thought I was gonna look towards windows laptops, but they have come along way with beautiful oled touch screens, 120 Hz refresh rate almost standard, wifi 7 and new efficient chips, more than enough for every day tasks.

The trackpad is such an integral part of the laptop experience that it makes or breaks a laptop for me. Why is it that so few PC manufacturers are using a haptic touchpad in 2025??

Your videos throughout all of 2024 have turned me into a Mac user. I just bought it last week, and holy sh*t is the battery life amazing. The screen is majestic, the performance is more than enough for my tasks, and the touch pad is SO much better than those plastic ones found on windows laptops ( which aren't even that much cheaper... :/ )

Can vouch for the Lenovo YOGA Slim 7i Aura edition. Bought the one with 16GB of RAM and 1TB SSD. Battery life is great, regularly get 6-8 hours of video watch time, and close to 11hrs of working on documents/web browsing. The build quality is fantastic, it's light as a macbook air and it's just a great all around laptop for someone that wants something that just works. I got mine for $1050USD and have been using it for just over 2 months now. The 2.8K 120HZ Screen is great for consuming content as well. Super pleased with my purchase. Unfortunately the battery health has degraded to 90% already and looks like I'll be needing to extend my battery replacement warranty.

I didn't even notice that, but laptop prices are really out of control... In late 2023 I got myself a lenovo legion slim 7 16' with amd 7840hs + RTX 4060. Even in Germany, I paid less than 1400 euro as a student for a kit with no Windows system and the lowest config on their website(16GB RAM soldered and 512TB SSD). One more 16GB RAM and a 2TB ssd costed me less than 150 Euro. It's unbelievable that yoga 9i with 4060 costs that much even in the US....

Satisfied user of an 14 inch Ideapad 5 Pro with i5 with 2k oled screen for less than 1k euro. In Europe the Surface Laptop is quite expensive. Not to mention the MacBooks.

I switched to Mac Air m3 15inch model with 16gb RAM from Windows. OMG, battery lasts 3days for basic stuff and for coding it's lasting almost 2days. Greatest laptop I've used ...

One thing against Josh's point for M3 vs M4. It's a much better choice to go with the M4 air if you plan to resell once you're done with the laptop. One generation would make a big difference in terms of depreciation, so if its only a difference of a 100$ it may be worth it as you could sell it for more later as well.

Just buy a second-hand corporate laptop for $300-500... Something with a Ryzen 5000 series processor will work wonders. Namely Ryzen 3 5450U or Ryzen 5 5650U processors, best to look for these two, and makw sure the RAM is upgradable with 2 slots.

Great video. Just wanted to quip that it's a bit weird that you say that a 15.3" laptop screen is a "downside" compared to 14.5". That's a matter of opinion and needs. I'd actually see it as a downside because it's not 16"...
