Mr Depp is on point here, as a person who was diagnosed with cancer at 15, I share the same idea.
While I recovered from it, and years passed, my parents never completely recovered from the experience.

As an adult now I can see what he's saying about kids being strong and parents slowly dying, it brings back strong memories.
