Because e^x^2 never equals zero. If you were to plot this function you would see that it never crosses the x-axis so is never zero.

WOW I've just done this paper so amazing that you uploaded this today!!
I can't wait to see the others :-) Thanks!

why can't you just divide both sides by x at the beginning, I know you lose a solution but I see no mathematical reason for that to be wrong, am I just expected to know I should divide by x

In question 5 a the graph of ex by the power of two is developed and drawn as a parabola, the same graph in question 5 d is drawn as an e graph without reflection on the y axis.

At 4:53 you showed us the graph of e^x^2 where y=0 is an asymptote, but in part (a) of question 5 you showed us a different graph of e^x^2 where y=1 was a minimum.

At the end where you have three factors and you are solving for x, how come you did not write an answer for e^x^2 ? You only gave an answer for (6-x)=0 and for x=0.

Thnx for the help Sir! appreciate it :D
Really helpful and easy to understand, just wanted to add @2.45 you could hv divide each term (both side) by x n then 2s... thts wht came up in my mind when i saw the equation :P but thts not a big deal thou lol... once again thnx :)

Because you divided out a factor which was a possible solution. A common mistake.

@xoxogennagirl What made you think that.

@milaad123 - but wen i divide it by x at that point, i lose the x=0 solution and only get x=-6, and dont understand y.
