I have started micro-slabbing tree sections that I find when neighbors lose a tree. Nothing more than 36in, but I just free hand chainsaw them into 2.5" slabs. I can get lots of nice future building pieces for nothing more than some gas for the 16" chainsaw and a half hour. I am working with some Black Locust a neighbor lost right now.

Awesome Matt! Please record and post here for us West Coasters who can't make it. 😃

I hope they will let you video your presentation and post it here. I'm sure it will be very informative!

I'm getting started in my own woodworking shop. I'm lucky to have found a sawmill near me, but would love to get a slab or few from you someday

Wish I could go. I have dreamt of building furniture. I likely will never get to at my age.

I've watched quite a bit of your content, and I noticed that you cut almost everything into huge thick slabs. Do you cut anything into more usable sizes? ie 4/4 or 5/4 lumber?
