I've always tied it the proper way, but it should be noted that the material that the shoelaces are made of is always going to determine the amount of "slippage"!!! Cotton and Leather will ALWAYS be the superior materials when it comes to "non-slippage" and the releasing of the knot. Other synthetic materials, nylon in this case, always have a non-friction quality about them that result in slippage. Also, cotton and leather can absorb moisture from the air, sweat, rain, etc. that cause them to swell and bind tighter. Even if you tied a granny knot or a square knot with cotton as opposed to synthetic nylon, the cotton will most likely give you the preferable bind-ability. This would make an extremely interesting study based on the material, the weave of the material, the knot type, etc.🤗

Wait! I was SURE you were going to bring us into the 21st Century hip culture n skip tying a knot outright. I thought you might have a better way to wear my sneakers untied. Still, thanks for the tip! Very interesting. I’ll def start tying the half knot the other way.

I don't remember how I tie my shoes but I know I'm going to continue to do so.

Very good, but do another turn on the half knot and it bites more too.

These are both lousy knots. Tie a shoelace around the top of a plastic bottle both ways and then shake the bottle and see how fast they both come undone. Use an Ian Secure Knot (use the search box).
