I tried shifting into second before the junction and my instructor was not happy with that. He somehow prefers the coasting method

I always use engine to brake for me as much as possible. I would bring it to first gear if required so no stall happens whatsoever. BTW, I have 16 years experience driving manual in India and have driven nearly an year in Australia, driving automatics

Why are you wearing a hi-viz vest during a mock test?

It's been a long time since I drove a manual, but that does look sloppy. Why not just shift into 2nd before the intersection (and lift the clutch)? The engine braking will also help control speed on the approach.

Ok but any normal driver does this. Sometimes I'll have the clutch down 5 seconds before entering a roundabout so I can smoothly stop the car if I need to, and if I'm continuing then I just raise the clutch and add gas

Approacing a turn where have to yield.
Smoothly brake until very low speed, clutch, shift down to 2nd gear, smoothly release clutch, check if clear, turn by lightly pressing the gas pedal.
I just can't understand how or why experienced drivers (more than 1 year driving) find that unrealistic or even impossible. Who are you people?

Ooh so that's where the fault is when i drive...so does that mean that i should already be at the "engage point"?, please help me, thank you.

Approaching intersection change down to 2nd which will assist in slowing car down, proceed with caution then drive round island with foot off clutch and you have power on tap if needed. Actually the instructor doesn't look that old, so wont have that much experience, no offense.

Always remember the 'Car control system' when approaching all junctions including roundabouts which are junctions.

Position(do this early and in good time), speed(brake or speed up dependant on the junction and situation), gear(appropriate gear for the speed) then accelerate (smoothly checking for hazards)

Dumb comments. Ur supposed to brake first, then clutch and gear down. Really not difficult to understand

Ridiculous that thats a minor but understandable i suppose

So you basically want him to heel and toe like a mad lad that has been racing manuals for decades or you want him to bring the revs up using the clutch, ultimately resulting into him wearing out his clutch 3 times faster 👍
