Kaizen: The Japanese Way to Continuous Improvement

One of the most powerful ways ensure progress is to show up to the most powerful disciplines in your life on a daily basis. Few things impact success more than consistency. The concept of kaizen was popularized by lean manufacturing during World War II, and the subsequent adoption of the Japanese of these principles for their automobile businesses. There are a couple popular books on this topic, but the essential premise of this powerful philosophy of thinking is this: Create simple processes/systems towards the goals you want to achieve.
1. Show Up to Those Disciplines
2. Be Consistent
3. Have a Good Attitude
4. Be Committed for a Long Period of Time
5. Have Faith and a Burning Desire
6. Be Willing to Pay the Price
7. Have Integrity in Your Work

I have been consciously focusing on this philosophy for about 10 months now, and I can sense tremendous progress already.

With love and respect,
Nikhil

So many people wanna take the short cuts nowadays... and done get me wrong, it's good to find leverage. But it's often only the big results we see from successful people forgetting that there were tens of thousands of tiny things they did before that, that all added up to being able to pull out the big guns. We shouldn't give up so soon. Finding tiny fractions of leverage is as important as finding the big levers. Use both at the same time and you are extremely powerful. Excellent vid ✌

I remember when I use to build guitars as a luthier I would have to explain this concept to musicians frequently. I have always had a detailed ear, could manipulate the materials of a guitar to get an exact effect. Using steel frets vs nickel would give more snap, using a brass bridge VS steel would give more warmth, using a maple fretboard VS ebony would give a stronger upper harmonic VS a stronger fundamental note, using gold solder vs silver would give more bass/mids. There was ALWAYS some guy who would come along ASSERTING that "there is no way you can hear a difference" and they would say it was my imagination. The truth is allot of people lack the perceptive ability to notice subtle change and they assume out of either ignorance or ego that neither can anyone else. But the truth is, if you take an instrument piece by piece, part by part, incrementally changing every part, you will eventually end up with a radically different sounding instrument. People may not be able to notice each incremental change, but once the entire instrument has been reworked and they have a chance to compare it to the original they are shocked at the transformation.

Compounding interest is one of the key insights of life, long-term commitment to continously improving 🔥 Then one day, bam, "overnight success". My daily philosophy is getting up early, exercise and eat healthy and plan for the day way before more ppl get up. Greetings from 5 AM in Hong Kong, after breakfast and exercise ☀️

My practices : Meditate, cold showers, goal set, workout, talk to a stranger. These should be ideal... I'm normally doing 3 out of these 5 everyday. I think I should get more focused on getting them done

For me it would be
1. Getting up early
2. Meditating
3. Reading a book a week and accelerating this through improvement of speed reading to a book a day.
4. Deep Work

As a student I know that studying everyday is crucial for being successful, but I still struggle with procrastination. My plan is to trust in this discipline everyday until I hopefully reach that next level. Thanks Cap!

Brilliant once again Nikhil. I am going through an entrepeneurship journey and it was intimidating trying to get started. So i committed instead to working 45mins a day. Taking a step and then another step without worrying about the result. Its freed me from the anxiety and now I am beginning to feel the good feeling that comes before a breakthrough.
