How to Clay Bar your Car for Beginners!

Today I do a basic comparison of the Clay Bar Vs Clay Block and keep things as simple as possible to help the Beginners out there who are new to car detailing.

To keep it short and sweet I wont be including the Clay Cloth in this video as its not a favourite of mine and it makes more sense to compare two completely different products instead of making things over complicated.

I feel like I am watching a television programme about cars when I’m watching your videos you present that well it is on point in every way possible and your detail to attention making your videos is like your detail to cars “ keep it up Dave “ 👍👌

Your presentation style is great. Your channel is becoming one of my favourites. Bilt Hamber clay has been my go-to clay for year. ONR makes a perfect, cheap clay lube as well.

Epic. Best thing is Dave doesn't snort and breath heavy on the mic unlike some other UK utubers and you don't end up heaving after watching but smiling. Thanks Dave

Great video Dave!
Top tip....
Put the clay bar into a cup of warm water...leave in there for a couple minutes and off you go... Soft as you like and ready for work...Your wrists will thank you in the long run and you can crack on with other bits whilst waiting for it to soften! As always a fantastic video and such great advice for anyone interested in taking their detail to the next level!

Great comparison, and I completely agree with you!

Blocks have become my go-to, but wouldn’t be without a traditional bar for the tighter areas

Great video again Dave 👍🏼 Having been sceptical of synthetic clay, I’ve literally just been converted. I bought a Yums clay block a few days ago and my god its brilliant!

Great vid Dave!
I find leaving the clay bar divided into 2 or 3 bits left in a bowl of boiling water helps soften it. Fish one out (obviously not with ur fingers), use it, then fish the other pieces as and when u need them.
I've purchased a 'G3 clay mitt' recently, will see if it's any good over the winter, on my yellow Leon 👍🏻🤞🏻

Spot on.

I used to use the clay mitt until i decided to to the bar wasn't to keen at 1st and haven't changed since than, but think the blocks would be more ideal for the larger panels especially for the doors and wings as even now i still drop them and its usually a new piece ive just got out and only done about half or full door as it slides out of your hand 😔 😆.

I like using the CarPro clay block with Dodo Juice Born Slippy (it is really economical). But I still got some regular white Meguiars clay if needed.

Thanks again Dave for the tutorial on clay if your vehicle👍 I tend to use auto finesse clay but also wear disposable rubber gloves as I find it grips the clay bar better than bare hands especially when they are covered in clay lube! And a small point to add is that I spray the lube on the clay as well as the body panels before I start. And I can hold my hand up and say I have dropped the clay on the floor, then it’s straight into the dustbin and grab a fresh piece👍.

Good one Dave! The block is one of my favourite out of all, I prefer that even over clay mitt also. However, I don't like the fact that you basically feel nothing under your hand, while clay bar gives the best control and feedback. Though question, but the decision is just as easy as you said: block.

I've not used a clay block, but I can see the obvious advantages.
I will have to order one from Yum, and give it a go.
