Over 250 US business leaders warn of boycott if Israel pushes through judicial reforms

Over 250 US business leaders and politicians have signed an open letter opposing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s proposed judiciary reforms, warning that it will be “increasingly difficult” for them to defend the country internationally.

If passed, Netanyahu's highly controversial plan to overhaul the country’s judiciary would allow politicians to overturn High Court judgements with a simple Knesset majority and appoint judges. It has been described as a “judicial coup”.

Israel has been engulfed in turmoil for over two months as mass protests continue against the proposed judicial overhaul, signalling potentially devastating economic consequences for Israel.
