I've been translating Coelbren for a while. I was supposed to go to see Alan with David but I was very ill at the time. Love this man, ever since I saw him and Barram on BBC Wales in '86. This was lovely to see, thank you ;) P.S. If you're stuck finding old Welsh/English English/Welsh dictionary "Y Geiriadur Mawr" is a very good resource, also you may be able to find an 1850's little Welsh - English dictionary on ebay, I've seen them from time to time and if you siarad Cymraeg it's a godsend - it also shows you how much of our language has been lost in 100 years.

As hieroglyphs were undoubtedly a highly visible and a very public means of written communication, it makes no sense whatsoever that the masses would not be able to read them quite naturally and easily, as they were intended for them to read in the main.

Fascinating. I have found Egyptian history a few pharos short of a dynasty. I shall read Alan/Barams work on Moses.The lost technology of using granite freely, the artifacts of which puzzle the engineering world torments me.
Free thinkers are rarely rewarded in their own lifetime and in the frosty world of archaeology new ideas freeze but keep.
I wonder if the deliberate repression of the Welsh language was just to unite a perceived weakness in an imposed Kingdom?
Fortunately for all some like Alan think outside of the box.
As to the ancient theme probably couldn't understand that either!

"We can teach children to do it, we can teach anyone to do it" (translate the hieroglyphs) so I would have thought that that dictionary of 1648 needs to be copied to a word processor and at least offered as a download as a first step. Ross...? Just think how many more of us there would be exalting the truth of what the hieroglyphs say - there is nothing more motivating than discovering something for oneself, what the Egyptians really believed for a start, seems like a big one to me...

Fially one of these videos that gets to the nitty-gritty of what this guy knows - thank you now I believe him, and hope we don't have to lose what he knows beause of being ignored for so long. I have just discoverd this subject, absolutely fascinating, and really trying to figure out what to do next - I've ordered the language book now, but the other videos I was tring to watch appear to be just 'entertainment' by Ross? & his son playing his music !!! I want to know this subject, not watch a silly personality 'chat show' ! Grrr !
