I'm nearly 80 years old and have traveled 395 since I was a 17 year old out of the San Fernando Valley (Southern Cal). I now live in Gardnerville, NV, a couple miles off of 395. Your trip gives me recall after recall. Beautiful. Thank you! 🙂

I bought an old 4x4 ambulance inspired by you wishing to live your life, not happening as yet but inching bit by bit to get the feel of it. Thank you brave lady 😊❤ from Australia

I think I said this about a week ago, but Camper is SO into it. He loves, I mean loves looking at the scenery. He loves it all and does it all with a huge smile on his face. I can just here him thinking "Jackpot!" and now he has a little buddie. It's just awesome. Thanks Nikki!

You do such a fabulous job! Thanks for the 395 trip! My wife is an avid swimmer and over did the salt water swim. When combined with a lack of appropriate sun screen, made for a very uncomfortable few days. So tells your views to make sure they get both plenty of sun protection and a good fresh water rinse on leaving the lake.

Inspiring Video! The 395 is my favorite pilgrimage and road trip. I have traveled here since college days, in cars, station wagons, tenting, and now after an incredible career in filmmaking and now Coaching, we live and travel in our airstream home “Garbo” full time. It’s the Sierra’s rising up from Mono Lake to Lone Pine with awe inspiring snow capped peaks that rival any mountains I saw in Europe that do it for me. Lakes, vistas for 100’s of miles, historic hotels and restaurants. For history geeks like me, California has a rich history to be discovered along the 395. Don’t miss is the Movie Museum in Lone Pine with clips and fabulous displays of wardrobes and memorabilia of the Westerns and films shot there in the Alabama Hills. There is the ongoing story (signs still demand the water be returned) of the Owen’s Valley “WATER WARS” where Los Angeles Robber Barons enlisting the DWP (dept of water and power) stole (diverted) the Owen’s valley’s water, created an aqueduct that fueled the land boom in and LA’s San Fernando Valley where the Barons owned the land. They made millions. Farmers blew up canals. We dug deeper and found the area where the Paiute Indians had extensive dykes to divert the Owen’s River and green the valley, which the farmer/settlers stole when they came into the valley. Then the LA Barons stole it again. Wild West indeed. And there is Manzanar, an internment camp 5 miles north of Lone Pine which you can drive around and imagine the life here. The center reveals our shameful history of interning Japanese-Americans in these camps during WWII which is sobering and uplifting, with personal stories of triumph over oppression, as prisoners created gardens, sold produce, created schools and social activities, and made the best of their internment for themselves and their children.
