NYC is it's own unique entity. Once you get into the small towns, country places, heck even smaller cities like Savannah everyone becomes alot friendlier

In the south is where a lot of the Irish migrated and we still to this day adapted and carried out the small talk 😊

Visit the Midwest, you'll love it. We have a thing called the "Midwest goodbye", where you stand in the doorway chit chatting for another hour while you try to leave 🤣 NYC isn't known for being very friendly or talkative with strangers, but get out of the city and you might change your mind!

I missed Ireland for this reason. Irish people love to chat and enjoy it.

My mother's side of the family is from Cork. I LOVE to sit and chit chat with total strangers. It drove my kids crazy when they were young. I have actually learned many a person's life story this way. We Irish are truly blessed 😊.

That sounds like the opposite of Finland where small talk with strangers is usually kept to a minimum.

Yes it's so true, when I make small talk to foreigners they think I'm flirting with them! I have to remind myself to shut up 😂😄🤔

Move to the South East. It’s is considered rude not to small talk. My boss actually sat me down and counseled me on the fact that I was not doing it enough in Tennessee and it was making my coworkers uncomfortable.

My mom is Irish. Calls with her Irish friends generally run 2 to 3 hours. They love their tea because their vocal cords need it!
