I was told there's no manipulation of the market... but then I was also shown evidence there was, something about a guy saying "fundamentals don't matter" he runs a big TV show now and if you inverse his calls you make money.

All of this is just a side effect of the root problem, which is that arbitrage has become the primary source of income rather than an incidental benefit. Economic value capture has exceeded real value creation and it's continuing to accelerate, starving the real value creation process of productive resources as a result.

Put another way, more and more rats are fighting over less and less food.
