In this video I show how a cheap eraser wheel will work just as good as the 3M eraser wheel. Here's the one I used:

I used the 3M and removed all the stripes on my motorhome no issues whatsoever no residue I recommend it it’s worth the money..No heat gun would even come close to the damaged cracked decals I had this was the perfect solution

3M makes the best stuff. Cheap knockoffs often chunk or flat wear down faster. 3M is proven superior, period.

Replaced chrome badges for black badges, cause truck is black. Used that wheel, hair dryer, fishing line, and rubbing alcohol. Did the job just fine

I know you posted this 3 years ago, but thanks for the reminder to not over think and overdo things. Love it.

Honestly, I’m 55 and have been detailing my own cars for decades—owned 25 so far—and never felt the need for one of these tools. I’ve rebadged countless cars, not just my own, but also for family and friends. All I’ve ever used is some fishing line or floss, a hair dryer (or just left the car out in the sun), detailing spray, and Goo Gone if needed.

Just a few days ago, I debadged my Lexus IS350 using only floss. Took me about 3 minutes. I rubbed off the adhesive with my thumb, followed up with some detail spray, a clay bar, then waxed it. Maybe I’ve just been lucky for the past 30 years doing it this way!

I've been using cheap wheels for well over a decade now and they've all worked absolutely perfectly. 💯 😂

I've tried both the 3M and the knock offs and I'll take the 3M anyday. Knockoffs wore down after removing 2 company vehicle decals and I'm on my 4th vehicle with the 3M wheel and I still have 70% left. Well worth the $$ in my opinion.

Recently replaced the side moldings on my 250 OBS. The 3M wheel is just under $60 here in FL now so I gave the knock off a try. One wheel did both sides and there's still about 25% of the wheel left, no harm to the paint. Money well spent.

Good one, man!! This is about the best video I've seen on de-badging! Down & dirty!! I used the Harbor Freight plastic body tools to pop off the lettering, instead of messing with the heat gun. Came out fine.

The CANOPUS is the one I just used for my hood badges. Worked perfectly and it's still mainly like brand new in appearance.

Great video, thanks Nick. If you think 3-letter "RAM" is annoying, I'm about to try removing 11-letter "BRONCO sport" from the lift gate.

The way the dealer does is heat gun then dental fross diped in alcohol wrap dental fross two fingers and like a saw goes through the adhesive no mess no expensive tools no erasers. we use decal erasers on decal stripes.

Only 3 things needed to debadge remove sticky residue. 1 fishing line better than floss does not break leaves no scratches. Then wd40 to breakdown glue on residue of 3m tape, alcohol to remove oily residue of wd40. None hurt paint. Easy Peasy. Been using wd40 on dirtbikes since 70s to remove goo from removing stickers. Does not harm paint. To remove oily residue of wd40 a wipe with rag with alcohol on it. Clean neat cheap no power tools needed. You are welcome
