What gear did the 350-mile Unbound Gravel XL winner use? Seb Breuer explains

Unbound Gravel has a few distance categories, with the pros racing 200 miles as part of the $250,000 Life Time Grand Prix. There is a 350-mile XL race, however, that departs at 3pm Friday and takes riders through the night across the rocky gravel roads of Kansas.

After doing the 200 in the past, this year Sebastian Breuer raced and won the XL. I caught up with him to talk about his bike and gear choices.

Did I miss anything or did they not mention the name of the bike?
It's a Rose Backroad FF for those who are wondering. It's a German bike brand and the bike has been released just 2-3 months ago. It also won the women's Unbound I think.

I used to own the aluminum version of the backroad and I can say it's a class ride and quite affordable at the same time.

Honestly, I love sponsor shout-outs by anyone with sponsors. Sponsors make the racing world turn. And if Ben ever shows up in a NASCAR-like shirt with logos and patches all over it, I'll be cheering for him! And I did that with my Dad half a century ago when he was big-time into auto racing. I just had to jump my Sting-Ray like Evel Knievel and be all flashy in a pair of bright red STP pants, official team gear from the Richard Petty '73 NASCAR campaign.

Great video, what a beast he is! That frame bag looks ideal for my small bike. I saw another white Tailfin frame bag on another video, which was a prototype. Hopefully we'll see this one come to retail!

Amazing riders just to finish that xl in one shot, I’d just be finishing! Great interview, nice looking set up, what brand were the aero bars? Seems like he enjoyed the ride.

I don't know if it's too late, could you do a video on the 50 and/or 100 milers at Unbound? Want to see how the more Mortal distance races went and work 🙂.

Doing the 200 or the XL right now for me is just inconceivable 🙂.

What a man, what a man what a might good man - machine! Thanks @Ben D as always for all your efforts and hard work producing this amazing ‘inside info’ content! Might sound like a strange question, but absolutely love the tunes at the end of the video! Do you have the track name handy by any chance? Thanks again!

Can you interview Dylan Johnson too please? His setup is pretty neat & he got a top 10 spot this year!

I was curious what was his gearing is, I only saw the 44T chain ring. And when he mentioned "the new sram", is that the new 13 speed or am I trippin? I think it's not based on the current shifters.

Wonder how Tyler (VC) went. I assume he raced.

There is so few reviews and footage of this bike. What I like about it is the cockpit and clip-on frame bags. Exactly the parts which got replaced on the bike you showed me. I hate it.

Am I just silly, or did he not mention the width of the tires?

3:41 why is there no neutral support in the XL race? Not a lot of racers doing that distance?

Men's and Women's XL, as well as women's 200 were won by Germans? Funny coincidence.
