I elbowed my way up front for a closer look and my interest was piqued. Chef Cooper was cooking steak after steak in a matter of minutes all at 1500 degrees on the Beefer. After a few samples I wanted to learn more about this cooker and Coop was more than willing to give me the run down.

The Beefer was created in Germany and is highly sought after and used by professional chefs. It’s a top down cooking machine and that simply means that all of the heat is produced in the roof of the unit. It very similar to high heat broiler ovens used in high end steak houses, but the Beefer was designed for every day use in the home.

After talking steak for a while with Cooper, I knew that I wanted to learn more about the Beefer. I ran into the Beefer gang again at the World Food Championship last fall and invited them out to the house so I could get some first hand knowledge of how it really works.

my father got a beefer and i gonna admit that no steak i've ever eaten tastes like a steak from a beefer grill . it caramelize the fat just beautifully and tastes amazing ..

Love Malcolm. But the Beefer is completely unnecessary. If someone can’t make a restaurant quality steak over direct charcoal, or on a gas grill at 700° or in an iron skillet....then it’s the cooks fault.

a cheramic burner can be obtained for $30, i dont know how a burner with a glorified shelve is worth 800

Malcom, love your channel and will always watch them all. That said, I hope you'll still cook on a Weber kettle time to time!

Will rather have a mountain green or Weber and cook my meat the traditional way. Leave beefer to the fancy restaurant

Uneven cooking on larger model. Check out Eater's video on this. If you are cooking a large piece of protein sideways, the middle of the burner does not sear. Interestingly, this video only showed the smaller model probably because they know that there are numerous issues with this over priced grill.

I'll just leave the lid off my UDS and open up the valves. Sure seems to get hot enough just pulling meat to wrap.

This device cooks from the top allowing juices to drip, and fast cooking times because 1500F, and max temp of a standard grill is 450F in comparison.
