I bought my 1979 MGB brand new in May 1981. It sat unloved and unsold on the lot here in southern California (manufactured November 1979.) I was 23, and resolved to keep the car as new as possible until late middle age, when my predicted mid-life crisis came, and by then, I'd have a classic green British sports car in the garage, already paid for. This is the ONLY thing in my life that is "On Plan." I have just over 28, 400 miles on the car, and it got its first dent two years ago when an earthquake launched a can off the shelf and onto the boot ("trunk" for us Colonists.) My local body shop did the very best they could to match the old original paint, but a trained eye in SoCal sunlight could spot the difference.I love my little car. It is not fast. It does not handle that well. It barely passes the required emissions tests... but it is ELEGANT, it is ORIGINAL, it can be repaired by a skilled layman, and it is ALL MINE. It has survived marriages, children and job losses. Thanks for posting this video, I hope another generation can be introduced to the simple, elegant body style of this precious little car!

This car is awesome and definitely worth every penny! I bought mine over a year ago and it is the most amazing car I have ever owned. Both classic and modern, it is the best of both worlds and oozes charm and character that you don't get with a mass produced sports car. The stats they give out are correct, I can vouch for them. Boy it really is super fast and hugs the ground and flies around roundabouts! The pleasure I get opening her up, the roar of the engine as I fly past modern more expensive supercars. This car ticks all the boxes for me. The car has a fantastic build quality and finish as you would expect for a hand built customised car. But, the great thing is, the smiles and looks it gets. So many thumbs ups from other drivers! If I leave it in a car park, when I get back to the car it usually has men hanging around it peering in! Please do not compare this car with a Morgan. This car is as reliable as any modern new car and is built to be driven as your everyday car (not just sunny Sundays!)!

This brings tears to my eyes. My older sister had a beautiful blue 1967. She let me take a date out in it, when I was in high school!
I would love to get my hands on one of these, in her honor. My sister was pretty cool to trust her young brother to do that.

I have seen it in the flesh and sat in it...agsolutely gorgeous and wonderful workmanship but £80k for an MG with a mazda engine!!???? Would still be expensive at half the price.

MGBs are pretty cars, but for 80K, you can get a whole lotta car at Morgan with the same polish/fit/finish along with the classic look.

No, sadly the numbers dont make sense in the end. Also, its priced from 80K, which means thats just the base of whatever you can get with this thing.

My '72 MGB was the most fun car that I've ever owned. Great fun tooling around rural Ohio roads. Loved that short-throw shifter...

Nice job on the video; enjoyed it. I think the Lotus Elan has a better claim for inspiring the Miata/MX5 than an MGB

Two blokes reminiscing in a pub about the wonderful old times transferred into a car which remains an anonymous crib (with a Mazda engine). Main thing: Buy one. Buy what? I still don't know what the thing is.

I thought the MX5 was inspired by the Lotus Elan!

"They ditched the cart springs but the live axle had to stay" - tell you what boys, grow up and by an MX5. Oh and by the way, the MGB didn't inspire the MX5, the Elan did!

MGB will not die !  It is a brilliant sports car. Simple and fun, was and is the intention all along  . . A true classic.

I recently had a 1970 MGB GT coupe given to me but didn't get a title due to her father's passing and inheritor problems. I was trying to look at it as a bracket race car but have been told they are rough handling with higher horse power motors, any suggestions?
