What Was Genshin Impact Like On Launch Day?

I found some old memories of this game, as it was on the DAY of it's release!
Between realizing how quiet Paimon's voice used to be, and seeing the "unknown god" for the first time in ages, I couldn't believe how different it used to be!

I forgot how much more... normal Paimon's voice was.

I don't think it was all that different from now it was just we didn't know the Tolkein levels of backstory this game had yet. BotW now seems so... small...

Threatening Timmie ever since the release…a true Genshin fan.

Don't you miss the time when 2-digit attack is considered high atk power and don't know how to set up your artifacts? Ahh the old day...

The game has definitely come a long way since the release. Dang that was such a long time ago.

Back then, we can't use Bennett and Fischl because we send them to gather ore for 15 hours

Back then we spend Resin to play the event minigame

Back then Qiqi was a SS Tier character

Started playing genshin for the meme because everyone and their mother were talking about it. I just had to see for myself if it was worth the hype. Two years ago I've had no idea I'd spend 5 hours crawling around the sandy dunes of Sumeru desert like a scarab not because I want the primos but because the exploration is just that much enjoyable.

I never played Zelda due to not having a console. When it first came out, I was at my most busiest with schoolwork. Don't ask me how but I took at least 10 classes at once. I did hear of Genshin but I had to push playing it for a year or two. Playing it blind was such an experience that fulfilled my wanderlust. I'll probably officially look back with nostagia once we reach the final chapter.

lmao genshin may have started as a breath of the wild clone or tried to appeal to that audience but it has grown alot since then and become its own game and still to this day its one of the best games ive played specifically for exploration its so fun to just run around the world

Can't imagine how the game will be like when all 7 nations are released. It'll be a truely expansive world that worth a fresh new start.

The only difference between genshin of the past and now Is that paimon's voice is cuter back then. I prefer the lower pitch

Mondstadt will always hold an odd nostalgia for me even though it was barely even 2 years ago. Something about playing Genshin at 2:00 am in 2020 hit different I guess.

I started playing in February of 2021 completely blind with no idea of what the game was and it's now my fav game. I remember the first few days and this was exactly how I felt :>

Genshin really makes me feel old. Tho I wasn’t there since launch, I joined at around Tartaglia’s release, and my first 5 stars were Jean and Zhongli, and fittingly enough, I’ve been witnessing genshin grow alongside this grandpa.
Though I don’t find much enthusiasm nowadays, genshin is one of the 3 games I’m currently playing, and I can’t seem to let it go unlike most of my classmates, who dropped genshin due to lack of motivation.

I miss the wonder, I talk to a lot of people who care about the abyss or builds or "theorycrafting" and they're such downers compared to the early days when all my friends were just happy to see Keqing in a cutscene. The magic of the game never went away, but the community values it less depending on who you talk to and that's something that is missing. Sometimes I get to meet passionate fans who still have a lot of love and wonder in their eyes at new content but I would love more of that atmosphere when I talk to other Genshin players.

I also played Honkai though so I have a figure of "the unknown god" (Herrscher of the Void) near my desk, when you ask when was the last time we thought about her... like an hour ago lol when I was talking to someone online about the differences from Kiana and the Sustainer, she lives rent free in my head

As someone who started in 2.4, seeing day 1 Genshin feels so surreal
