"Manic Monday" is a song originally written by Prince in 1984. The song found fame when it was later recorded by the popular pop rock band, the Bangles. Lyrically, the song describes a woman who is waking up to go to work on Monday, wishing it was Sunday, and includes the rhyme "that's my fun-day ... my 'I don't have to run day." It is rumored that Prince offered the single to the Bangles with the intention of winning the affection of band member Susanna Hoffs. It became the Bangles' first hit, reaching No. 2 behind Prince's single "Kiss."
