[Ubuntu] [Fix] Error when using Ubuntu Software Center, apt-get, Package Manager, Update Manager

When I use apt-get, Package Manager and Update Manager I get this error:
Reading package lists... Error!
E: Encountered a section with no Package: header
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.

How to fix this problem:
1. Open terminal

2. Enter the following commands one by one:
sudo rm /var/lib/apt/lists/* -vf
sudo apt-get update

3. Done!

try sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list -vf
press enter your error file will get removed then run this code as bellow
sudo apt-get update

Thanks man! I had this problem for months now and couldnt open my software center or update anything, it always showed that anoying red warning sign and said somtheing about unmet dependencies for someof my packages. I researched and tried just about everything on ubuntu forums, untill finally some minutes ago I found your video on youtube. when I'm in the Ubuntu software center and when I try to down load an app it says software can't be installed or removed because the authentication service is not available. how do I fix this

after installing nfs server....when i run it

Thanks for the video but the tip still didn't fix my problem. After I entered the second command I got Reading package lists... Error!
E: Problem parsing dependency Conflicts
E: Error occurred while processing linux-libc-dev (NewVersion2)
E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/dpkg/status
E: The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.
Anyway of fixing this? Thanks

thanks loads for this, i have been searching forums for the past day and was like screw it, youtube... you dont have a cheat sheet or a link to a good one do you? the past few months i have just had so many issues with windows that i figured screw just playing with linux, make a full switch, still a few problems but nowhere near as many. just finished update and it worked! runing kali ubuntu 12.04
