I have over 500 gems in my collection including close to 100 sapphires but I have yet to find and be able to purchase an alexandrite or a gem quality grandidierite. In my books at least one of those would be considered more precious.

I assumed the precious stones would be the most rare but I didn't know it was limited to that specific list. I thought the list would be more flexible. Interesting. I wonder if diamonds were suddenly found everywhere if that would change their place on the list or how people think of them. I wonder how man-made diamonds have changed what people think of diamonds.

Thank you for this! I have a question, I was customizing a necklace and i pointed at a certain stone. She told me it was not a ruby precious stone, it's a semi precious ruby stone. I didn't get it though, if it's different would it still be made of ruby?

With man making being able to make stones now a days, makes sense to drop it. This fact alone makes it like there’s no longer going to be such things as precious anything unfortunately in my opinion. We seem to figure everything out!
