Tell us what the decimals represent on number systems with bases other then 10! (They would not really be decimals, then - rather binals, octals or hexadecimals ;)

well we can also convert a fraction into a decimal with creating base 10 denominator fraction that is equivalent to the fraction Ex:2x5=10, 4x25=100, 8x125=1000

2 is divisible by 1000
4 is divisible by 1000
5 is divisible by 1000
8 is divisible by 1000
10 is divisible by 1000

So, the only reason why we have repeating decimals is due to the number system we use. A repeating decimal in base 10, it's not necessarily a repeating decimal in another base.

I wonder if that is the case with irrational numbers as well.
