Honestly, having worked with large utility trucks like the Silverado, I fully support those chrome exhaust outlets. If you need to take the exhaust down for any reason, say a truck owner didn't undercoat it and an 8-year-old exhaust mount finally quit due to rust, it makes it INFINITELY easier to put a new one in. It's like a second set of hands that'll hold the pipe for ya. Those are the only vehicles I've been able to complete an exhaust replacement on entirely solo. Everything else, I gotta call someone else over to hold the far end while I use a rubber dead blow to secure it at the clamp. Also works wonders for any other reason to take the exhaust down, like a damaged driveshaft, or anything to do with the fuel tank.
