"When I walk into my garage and see my RT and see this, I want to get on the RT and take it for a ride..." And THAT is enough reason to choose RT, by far the best bike ever.

That is the beautiful thing about motorcycles. You like what you like and you are not wrong. Enjoy what you have and go for the ride

I'm on my 3rd GS; '05 R1200GS, '14 R1200GS and now a '22 R1250GSA. The GS has great handling on the road, is very comfortable on long North America ventures, and one can trundle off on any backcountry dirt, gravel, forest service road you want to expand your adventure. That is what adventure touring is all about for me, and the BMW GS is the best at it in my opinion. As just an average rider, am I going to take the big, loaded GS over some gnarly, technical, rock-crawling jeep track? No, not me, that is what my KTM 690 Enduro R is for. The GS's have allowed me to have 18 years of adventure touring bliss and I don't regret one dime of purchase, maintenance, or gear costs.

Excellent review as always Scott. Toward the end of the video you talked about walking in your garage and looking at the GS and the unemotional attachment. I felt the same way with my 2022 R1250GS. The motorcycle was great and I loved the look of it. However, I decided to sell it and purchase a 2022 R1250RT and I absolutely love it. Like you, I have somewhat of an emotional attachment to the RT and enjoy it more every time I ride it. My RT is the same blue as yours and people always comment what a beautiful motorcycle it is. I just can't imagine any other sport touring motorcycle that I would like as well as the RT.

My 3rd GS now, a 2022 r1250gs. It's the dealers I can't tolerate. It's been quite an easy task selling BMW bikes to boomers, and wealthy adventurers the last 10 years. As a result the dealers have become greedy, simple minded, and lazy. Their margins grew, but so did their expenses as they assume the good times will last forever. They have their head in the sand. For that reason I will keep my current bike, and ultimately switch brands.

I have owned a 2008 R1200 GSA and loved it on the road, but not on the more difficult off-road trails in Colorado because of the weight. I do love my 2017 KTM 1090R for the lighter weight, 18/21 wheel set, powerful V-twin engine, great suspension, uses a key to start, and much fewer electronics the than the new KTM 890/1290 bikes. I completely agree with the comment below, ride what you love and enjoy the roads you love most. Great video, thanks for sharing.

I agree with you as I have the triple black 2016 1200 GS, it starts every time rides smooth and plenty of power with my wife and luggage. I just love riding it. Enjoyed the video.

I've owned a R1200RT for 4 years, drove it all around Europe, and without a doubt the RT was a great touring machine for long distance travelling. I traded it in for a R1250GS in '21 and have to say that I enjoy the GS more than the RT. The GS is more fun to ride, and I find it as good as the RT for long distance touring. The seat position is even slightly better for me as my knees are less bent than on the RT. I'm getting close to 50.000 km with the GS, after which I will traded it in for a new bike and most likely that will be a GS again. But I'll wait till all the 'childhood illnesses' are out of the 1300.

Somehow I love the bucket of bolts sound my 1250 gs makes and don’t sweat the scratches dings and scarfed up engine guards from dropping it off road. It’s like the truck you use for everything and quit worrying about it years ago.

Yes, this is the way to do it!
You are intimately familiar with the product you comment on. The viewer learns a lot about you and about a bike. Both in a funny way. Thanks!

Well, I think you are right about most of what you say, especially the noise that the engine generates. I told you a few months ago that noise can indeed be a problem if you are looking for smooth running and ‘silence’.
It is true that with 10 000 km the whole mechanics, and its noise, has softened and it doesn't seem as noisy as before (if the sound level meter doesn't lie, it has lowered some dB), nevertheless, personally I was expecting the smoothness that one expects from BMW (since in other models it can be enjoyed: in the 1250 engines and even more in the 1200).
Maybe, in the next change of bike I will go for a 4 or 6 cylinders, although I will surely find some defects in it.
Thanks for your comments, opinions and videos.
Greetings from Catalonia!

I was really worried this was going to be a biased summary(as you intended to sell it). But, great to see you kept it honest and transparent. Me…I’m going with the Stelvio too 🤠

Interesting assessment! I have a 2019 R1250GS & a 2019 R1250RT. I brought my GS first and absolutely loved it as it was my Swiss army knife do all bike. I brought the RT some 12 mths later and have grown to love it. It is now my go to bike and I find the GS sitting parked in the garage a lot as I tend to jump on the RT. I have a emotional attachment to the GS in that it is my dirt road camping machine but I find myself doing very little off seal riding these days & a pub room is a lot more comfortable and I don't need to lug around camping gear - hence take the RT. I found the 1300 engine nice but didn't warm to the sound of it, the 1250 sounds more raw! I am waiting for the new 1300 RT but if it comes out looking like the Leggo GSA I won't be going near it. Keep up the great reviews.

Scott, this is an excellent video. I appreciate the way you focus on things like the annoying engine noise and excellent wind protection, which many reviewers would only glance over or not mention at all. And most importantly I appreciate your honesty at the end of the video regarding why you are selling it.

I have a 2017 1200 GS, I’ve never considered the newer shiny 1250 or now the 1300. I can’t imagine for the extra $$$ those bikes can do anything mine can’t with the exception of going a little faster. Someday, when she gives up the ghost I’ll look at new but honestly that 2017 has features that many other new ADV bikes don’t have.

I sold my '22 RT because of the louder engine noise. The new Triumph Tigers' are much quieter, and 1200 line-up are super nice! I have had many BMW's, and the Triumph is right there in all categories. And at 148 HP, they are super quick! I love mine!

I felt the same when I owned an R1250GS. No emotional attachment. Owned it less than a year, an excellent functional bike. I now ride an R1250RS, which feels so much better and makes me want to ride it.

Love your reviews! I just bought one yesterday and can't wait to take delivery of it next week. Coming from a Honda NX500, this is a huge upgrade in every aspect and checks all the boxes for me.

I drove it, and I fell in love, the best bike in the world in my opinion. It felt 1000% right for me. One day I will buy one, but now a brand spankin’ is too much money.

Firstly, thanks for all your reviews - really appreciated. Regarding the GS - I think potential buyers need to think about what they need. Compare to a Moto Guzzi as you get so much character for so little and then decide if you really need anything else. Personally, I have a KTM1290 Adventure and thinking of moving to a Moto Guzzi V85TT 2024 model. I just do not need loads of gizmos and 150bhp. And yes, I tour Europe regularly covering 2000+ miles in a week.
