Printing your own work makes you a better photographer because you can visualize the finished work from conception through shooting and editing to printing so that it's a cohesive process. Also, printing will show up you mistakes in shooting and editing, so your shooting will get better and so will your editing.; Hahnemuhle makes some fantastic pearls, and I use William Turner a lot..

That's it! You convinced me to get one. I don't need it but I'm still getting it. Going to apply for a loan right now. I just have to figure out where to place it in my tiny apartment.

"If all else fails, read the instructions" ;-/ Printing will make you a better photographer, as what needs to be edited will alter how you shoot. Also, a photograph is a process from exposure through printing. The only way I'd buy a 4400 is if I start selling more large scenic prints to interior decorators, etc. Hahnemuehle Willian Turner is a favorite, and their silk. I also use Canson papers.

Canon printers are not only excellent printer., They are an excellent value. I have a pro-100 that retails for $500, and it makes 13"x19" gallery-quality prints that are as good or better than I could get from Whitewall or any other printer.
Also, I use Canson and Hahnemeuhle papers almost exclusively.
