Danzo destroyed the eye not out of pettiness or spite but because he did not want that immense power to fall into enemy hands who would use it against his village. This is probably the ONLY noble thing Danzo has ever done

I too have to appreciate the sheer pettiness of Danzo in this moment. If anything, the last thing he did was prevent Shisui’s eye from falling into the Akatsuki’s hands, which would have vastly-complicated the War Arc, all they have to do is tempt Sasuke over towards the end at the right moment and they win. That’s how close the bad guys were to winning the war. I mean they basically needed someone as special as Itachi turned to their side by Shisui’s other eye just to win it. Shisui’s eyes literally decided the outcome of the war. This is a topic that needs to be discussed.

Danzo was a dick. But he loved konoha. He isn’t letting that eye in hands of konoha’s enemies.

Little reminder that obito could've easily abused the izanagi to get pretty much hundreds of extra lives by just taking out the consumed sharingan and replacing it with a new sharingan from his collection. We know he can swap eyes even after using izanagi because he replaced one of these blind eyes with nagato's rinnegan. And he can teleport with his kamui! He could go back and forth from his little hideout in minutes and boom: new eye, another extra life, battle injuries he overrides with izanagi are as good as new. And he has a literal wall of eyes to swap with.
Maybe it's just me, but I think he could get a lot more out of this than a rinnegan he only used to control the jinchuriki.

Kabuto said he could properly reanimate Shisui from the remains of his eye but Obito refused to give it to him I think because he feared Kabuto would use Shisui Kotoamatsukami to take control over him

In the anime I think obito put the eye in his other socket but had to waste it on an izanagi due to konan's 1 million explosive tags

I really need to see the Sharingan vault come back in Boruto, so much story potential. Who do you think has control of it now that Obito is dead? I’d love to see Karin guarding it. And since she has an ungodly amount of chakra, she’s probably one of the few people in the universe who could slap two sharingan in her face and be okay

I think it's more he doesn't trust anybody else to use it and service of the leaf. He's dirty underhanded, and unlikable, but literally every decision he made he made legitimately believing it was for the betterment and safety of his home, and he couldn't trust anybody else with that level of power, especially for one of his villages greatest secret weapons
