Seems like there has been far more transparency with 787 concerns than with the 737 MAX disaster. That bodes well for the 787 going forward.

Considering how Boeing handles their business these days, I wouldn't be surprised if there is a constant drip of stories for the next couple of years and no real resolutions. Boeing has really dropped the ball in the persuit of saving a few bucks over safety which will effect their long term viability as a company. Airbus is already starting to overtake them and Boeing nixed the 757X, the NMA is basically off the table for this half of the decade and the 777 is facing delays.

Yes, hope this helps get Boeing sorted and back to doing their jobs with pride and joy, they've had some sorry times lately.

Let's hope they are getting to grips with the problems and it's progress all the way to resolution here. I think the 787 is a really nice, quiet + comfortable plane to travel on, kinder to the environment and it obviously makes the airlines a lot of money. Shame this fundamentally good design is hindered by poor management and over zealous accountants at Boeing HQ.

Most beautiful wings in the biz. Love the Dreamliner. Boeing needs to get its act together, though...and the sooner the better.

Such a tough time for Boeing. Of course much their own making in the technological changes/leap on the 787 and shortcomings on the 737. Let's hope the 777x grows confidence, it is not a massive technical leap forward and it seems they are testing carefully and not rushing it out the door. We need a strong Boeing and not just an Airbus charging ahead. I say this as a European. Competitive plane builders is good for the user if they are both managed well. Let's see what the Russians and Chinese throw into the fray though I think they will struggle after introducing the C919, CR929 and MC21 to build and maintain never mind living up to promise before Boeing and Airbus develop new aircraft.

Since I flew on the 787, it has been quite a delightful experience every time, no apparent jet lag, good seats in premium, business and economy, i do hope it gets solved this

Are there enough inspectors? No. Are enough inspections done? No. Is the inspection process effective? No. Don't need a Congressional committee to figure that out. It's common knowledge, and it has always been that way. The FAA has never had adequate resources. See also DC-10.

Boeing has been super “lucky” that air travel has not been in massive demand - particularly wide bodies. Other than a couple of random deliveries, there’s been no 787’s delivered in the last 12 months - they have about 100 on the ground built (well sort of built) but not necessarily ready and approved for delivery. Seems like the 737 took the heat but 787 production has HUGE quality concerns. These aircraft will be flying in a couple of decades - not a safety issue? Then why did you design the original specs? Come on Boeing it’s time to increase quality no matter what the cost. Maybe even head back to Seattle for production.

I can only hope that QANTAS go to Airbus because I am seriously not happy about flying Boeing aircraft in the future after COVID settles down. Two popular aircraft and both with issues.

With the Fokker 130 NG any inspections will not be necessary because it has superieur quality and will never go faulty.

I am starting to wonder about Boeing. Years of groundings, crashes and a murid of other problems. If you even comment on what is being reported you are seen as anti Boeing. When they come every other day its hard to not comment. It saddens me to see a pioneer of aviation in such a state. Complacency is a difficult foe at the best of times. I am not sure it will be defeated now.

With the FAA and other government regulators tightening the screws on Boeing is a step in the right direction. Hold them more accountable to keep the focus on building top quality airliners, and not bean counting and cutting corners for your all mighty shareholders

I like the idea of the reviewing but the question comes down to Kenny afford to hire more inspectors

It’s no doubt that Boeing has had problems in the past with the 787 and with this new technology of carbon deposits make up the majority of the air frame there is going to be some issues with a where in tear that Boeing has not foreseen. This is just one of the latest problems within the structure of the plane. There could be a possibility where the FAA will ask Boeing to recertify the aircraft which will not only impact their sales impact the public view of flying on the air craft Which of my eyes is a massive shame as next to the 757 it is one of the prettiest aircraft I have seen flying also have the opportunity to fly on.

The 787 has been a disaster for the company, starting first with outsourcing, and then moving final assembly away from a highly skilled labor and production facility.

Boeing 787 is already 10 Years old, so expect some issues on it as the age passes by. :)

At this point I'm just tired of all these issues with the B787. They have become a nuisance. I hope the same issues won't happen with the 777X🤦🏽
