Today we are looking back Windows phone on the microsoft lumia. How good is it in 2023? Is it still possible to use windows 10 mobile in 2023? There is still no windows 11 mobile, because after windows phone they went to Android with the Microsoft Surface Duo.

Using Windows Phone in 2023. We are looking at it on a Microsoft Lumia 950 (smaller version of 950 XL) which was released at the end of 2015. Which makes it the last lumia flagship phone. How good is a lumia today? Microsoft had Windows 8 mobile and windows 8.1 as well, but in this video we are looking at 10 mobile. First they had nokia lumia, but later it was microsoft lumia.

Microsoft also had the idea of making your phone feel like a pc. So phone replaces a pc. This was called Microsoft continuum. So how good is that today and can we still use it? Sadly there arent a lot of apps supported anymore on windows phone. Most don't work properly anymore.

Always loved Windows Phone, and I still regret their dissapearance to this day. Thank you very much for that throwback 🤗🤗

It'd be cool to see a windows phone comeback, especially with how ARM processors are becoming more prominent, and most "apps" have a webapp version (snapchat, instagram, etc. all work in browsers now) so there's really no barriers when it can essentially be windows 11 repackaged to work as a phone.

I got my windows phone in 2013, the Nokia Lumia 820, absolutely beautiful phone, wireless charging, removable battery. And ten years later it's still working fine. Always loved UI as it was smooth and looked far better than rows and pages of icons. I really wished that developers had supported it more and brought out the equivalent windows apps.

I had the Lumia 640 LTE and it was a really good phone. The Windows OS for mobiles was so clean but with the disadvantage of lacking lots of apps

Those phones had unique UI design and worked smoothly even on cheap models. The latter is something that Android phones don’t have even to this day. It’s very unfortunate that WP failed.

Actually the Nokia Lumia (before Microsoft bought Nokia) were the first 820 and 920 to wireless charging. Windows Phone basically had better features from always on display, dark mode etc just the lack of apps killed the platform, but third party were always better options back than as a former Windows Phone user myself.

I still have a Microsoft Lumia 640 XL.
I would like to use it for a digital detox, but I’m a bit afraid about the lack of security.
This phone is usable, it has a decent camera and the battery life is pretty good.

Had the Lumia 630 as my first smartphone in 2015 (was using a Nokia 2690 prior to that), and the performance was the one thing that really got me impressed, back then low and mid tier android phones were pretty horrible performance wise, the only android experience I had back then was through friends and family phones, seeing how the Lumia performed always brought a smile to my face.

It's sad that MS decided to drop the Windows mobile, but recently satya nadella said that he regrets that decision, so maybe there's still hope. Perhaps with the Windows Subsystem for Android we might see Windows phone come back to life with some sort of an android app enabled echo system implemented.

I had a lumia 630 as my first and only free windows phone with cricket. It really was the best phone I had at the time. I think everything ran smoother the camera wasn't great especially with no flash but overall the experience was great including Cortana. The phone was durable and the cheap plastic meant a range of colors. Although the support and app store wasn't there

I really miss the Windows experience. I was hooked to it since the early days of Windows mobile 5 and the PDAs all the way up to Lumia 950 and the Windows Insider. It was truly an adventure to receive a new update every week. Most of the time there were bugs that reappeared months after they were apparently fixed. Windows phones were really ahead of their time. They were the real driver of innovation and all other OSes were heavily copying.

I’m mad at Google to this day, because they don’t even made basic apps like YouTube, Gmail or just Google for Windows Phone.
Let’s be honest, Windows Phone was ahead of its times, and Microsoft made it better with every update. Maybe someday they will bring it back with better App Store 🤞🏻

I have Lumia 920 as my secondary device, I use it for Calling, Navigation and as an MP3 Player...
Most of the applications don't really work or have been discontinued on 8.1/10. Skype is a prime example.
I had even installed windows 10 mobile too but It was not well optimised and didn't really give a smooth experience so I switched back to Windows 8.1.

I loved the hardware of the Lumia series, and the style of the OS was perfectly matched with the phone design. It's a shame that they failed.

I remember being 16 and my brother gave me his hand me down Lumia 520. It was the coolest phone I ever had. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!

Microsoft Lumia 650 was my absolute favourite, worked like a charm with a great battery life. I was extremely sad when they killed this concept off.

I used to have a windows phone. It was quite a chore to use though due to absence of apps but the launcherr was amazing AF. I loved it so much I've installed one on my android phone

Awesome video, brings back memories! Had this exact phone back in 2016 because I dropped my 640 XL. Got my 950 for around 300 euros which was a pretty good deal for the specs back then. The stability of it was disappointing compared to WP8.1 and even WM10 on the 640 XL I remember. Also wondered if the 950's Snapdragon had an actual dragon inside because it ran HOT.
Software updates eventually made it workable as long as you weren't using it while charging though. Still liked the OS, and mostly used the browser for many things which worked okay. Loved the Continuum feature for browsing the web and writing quick school documents in Word while listening to music in Audiocloud (third party Soundcloud app), or emulating games/watching YouTube in the MyTube app. Used it for around year and a half and got myself a Note 9 in 2018, which I'm still using. Installed LineageOS without Google Services, and funnily enough using it in the same way I used Windows Phone with the browser haha.

I used different Windows Phones from 2012 to 2020 -- Loved it! I was forced to use Blackberry, Android, and iOS as a company phone at work though.
