Giant pumps in water-treatment plants in Singapore are converting sewage into drinkable water. The resource-stressed island nation has long relied on water from Malaysia since the 1960s. According to the country’s water agency, recycled waste water can meet 40 per cent of Singapore’s water demand, a figure that’s expected to rise to 55 per cent by 2060.

Why is everyone complaining about it? Didn't elementary school teach you how water filtering works?

But another problem is come up with this treatment, the energy used for this thing is massive. They need to find another eco way, especially if the big goal is to desalinate the sea water.

This technology has been in use here in Singapore at least since the 90s.

There are other plants which does desalination of seawater via reverse osmosis This is also been operational for years.

Umm, this is old news. The plant has been up and running for a while now already (at least 10-15 years I think).

This had been done since nearly 20 years ago. I even saw the then prime minister drank it personally to promotes it.

Then again. Back then there was no YouTube and SCMP.

Yes, please make your own water so that you do not need to loot water from us. Don't want to pay fair price for fresh water then enjoy your recycle water.

In the future, water will be currency. Whoever controls the distribution of water will have the most power.
