Autodesk Fusion 360 | Quick Tip: Export Files

Have you ever wanted to export your Autodesk Fusion 360 designs to OBJ, SketchUp, or other types not available from within the Export command? Watch this Fusion 360 Quick Tip YouTube video to learn how to get those other files types exported!

If you want to export directly from Autodesk Fusion 360, there are some limitations in what and how you can export. If you want to export a single component from a design, no problem: you can right-click it in the browser and then you'll see the options to export or save directly to an STL. If you select the project name from the data panel, you can see additional export options. Clicking the button in the upper right of this interface opens up a number of new options. This will include a Fusion 360 archive, native Inventor file type, DWGs, DXFs, Filmbox, SketchUp, and OBJ.

For those of you wanting to build this model, the lamp project can be found here:

Thanks for the video. You mention that the fbx file can be used for the new 3D Facebook posts. Can you explain how to go about posting a fbx as a 3D file on Facebook?

How to make things complicated. We just need an export option inside the desktop app. Come on Autodesk !

Why don't you guys put all these export options right inside the desktop app? It's annoying having to open A360 everytime I want to get a SKP or OBJ file, not to mention that it doesn't even let you download the file directly, it sends the file to your email. Really messy.

OBJ is missing quality setting like STL has. Any chance to get info on how to set a higher export quality? I already bought an exporter tool for obj that can do this but this is licensed per machine and therefore not really an option for another PC. Also it's slow as hell.

Could you import an STL, convert it to B-rep solid, then export as Quad OBJ?

So I was asked by a person trying to help me to save out a file as F3D so they could look at it.
'Save as' only offered a save to a folder on my F360 panel.
'Export' only offered an F3D on empty files, or files that only had derived parameters in it onlyl. Any file that had actual drawings only had the F3Z export option (among others)..
Is this something that has CHANGED recently?

When you make it so we can export everything straight from Sketch mode, everything meaning all the Dimensions that were first added, that would be great. As of now, it looks like you have to bring the Sketch into a Drawing and then re-dimension everything again. Right now, I use Vectorworks11 and I can export as an EPS file, bring it into Illustrator and add extra notes. I really don't want to add dimensions twice.
