FOX Host Says Vegans Are 'Fussy' and Weak. I Respond.

TUCKER CARLSON: You know I love animals, and I don’t like the way factory farms treat animals, so I’m kinda sympathetic to what you’re saying. And then I meet people who are vegan, and #1, there’s a super high level of fussiness, which I find a major turn-off, and #2, they all look pretty easy to push over, so you can’t tell me that it’s that good for you if they all look like they fall over in the wind, right?
COLLEEN PATRICK-GOUDREAU: You say “fussy.” I say “selective.” Because once you’re willing to bear witness to the horror show that goes on inside slaughterhouses, you do become a little squeamish about putting those bits and pieces in your mouth. Does it take a little extra time to make conscious choices because we live in a society that values convenience over compassion? Okay, and it’s worth it. But what’s also true is that these new choices become new habits that replace the old; they become second-nature, so of course you don’t spend that much time thinking about it.
As for vegans looking like they’re easy to push over, it’s a generalization to say that because there are all shapes and sizes among those who identify as vegan, but research does support the fact that vegans as a population have a lower body mass index than non-vegans, which is a good thing, because it also means lower risk of chronic diseases like diabetes, heart disease, kidney disease, and cancer. (But I still be you can’t push me over.)
