Problematic Roller Coasters - Steel Vengeance - Cedar Point's Beautiful Headache

preview_player
Показать описание
Steel Vengeance will most likely go down in history as one of the most unreal roller coasters ever built. When Cedar Point made the decision to transform Mean Streak, the park gave Rocky Mountain Construction all the money in the world and told them to "go wild." And the park certainly got the unimaginable coaster they hoped for, along with quite the headache of a roller coaster to maintain and operate.

I love watching the superstructure bend and flex as it goes by. You can tell that RMC really pushed the supports to its limit, for better and worse. If I weren't an engineer myself it would probably freak me out.

There's not a single bad thing I could possibly say about this ride. It is nothing less than absolutely phenomenal from start to finish. As long as it is, there's not a single dull moment the whole time.

Thanks for producing informational, high-quality media to the public!

51:13 "I think I got a little carried away with this one."

If getting carried away results in incredibly insightful material like this, please get as carried away as you want, Ryan. It shows how much you trimmed the fluff and unnecessary details even in a script this long. It's fine and even encouraged to say a lot when there's a lot worth saying!

Cedar Fair: "The coaster we bought from you isn't meeting expectations."
Intamin: "We're sorry to hear that. Here's a discount voucher for your next purchase."
RMC: _Scrambles to fix every single issue with the ride_

If you got “carried away” with this video, please get “carried away” on future problematic coasters, because I got “carried away” and forgot to work for 50 minutes as I watched this.

Appreciate all the work you must’ve put into this. A 50min video is no small feat and to keep it entertaining the whole time is so impressive! Already looking forward to the next one.

In my industry every time you try to build something that doesn't exist there are headaches. It is expected and the cost of being on the bleeding edge. I'm sure CP understands this and knew building the first 200+ ft hybrid coaster wasn't going to be easy.

I can’t imagine just how much effort you put into making these Problematic Coasters videos. They’re always a 10/10… just like Steel Vengeance!

It's so weird to see a train hit brakes on your channel, especially Mean Streak, without the Mean Streak trim sound

This ride is incredible. Was shocked by the metal detectors, but made the ride experience unforgetable. Took my 70yo mother on this ride for her birthday 😃

Honestly at the end of the video the first thought was: "the 50 minutes are over already?". Even if this is your longest video, you manage to keep the video interesting to watch! Thanks for this amazing mini-documentary about one of RMC's finest creations :D

I rode Steel Vengence for the first time this past Tuesday! It was a great ride! The ride crew did a fantastic job on keeping minimum dispatch interval! The moment the air gates opened, ride hosts were immediately making guests step through. Very impressed

I went on steel vengeance last summer and it became my favorite coaster instantly. Theres never a dull moment and the absolute chaos of flying around inside the wooden structure feels amazing. Absolutely worth the 2 hour wait

Before finding your channel the only coster I had ridden was one at Disney Land. Now I have been to several rollercoaster parks and Steel Vengeance is near the top of my list! Thank you for the inspiration to try something new.

Hats off to you Ryan for putting force diagrams and magnetic field diagrams in a 52 minute roller coaster video. Lean into the engineering

Steel Vengeance's design and layout is absolutely nuts. I am amazed the underlying wooden structure can deal with the crazy forces. The footage really shows the crazy amount of flexing and bending when the train flies through the track.

The knowledge, flow, and attention to detail is on another level. Kept my attention the whole time. Well done Ryan. Thank you. My wife and I rode this ride the first summer it came out in 1991. It was awesome. When we were in line we could see the way it moves and shakes. My wife was concered and a carpenter near us heard her (and I quote) said "If it dont shake, it will break." :)
On a side note we went back 2 years later to ride it again and it beat the shit out of us. We never rode it again. Good to see they are doing their best to keep it going, because it was fun.

I really think this coaster is such a success story. From a problematic wooden coaster in the back of the park to a world class ride runnining in tip top shape. I rode it back in 2018 and could really see all these issues coming together. It's so cool to see how they addressed each one, even amidst the craziness that was the last few years
