yay new series! today we're revisiting Sleepaway Camp, a movie I watched years ago at your recommendation and didn't like... after rewatching it, is my opinion the same? what's the next movie you'd like me to give a second chance?

It really was a horror staple back in the late 80's. Let us have Sleepaway Camp and we'll let you have Molly Hartley

The acting makes it feel more unique. This movie actually feels like a camp. The movie deals with issues of gender and sexuality and is way more unique than most slashers. Probably my favourite horror movie of all time.

Respectfully disagree on some of your points. I think the twist is signposted on rewatch, but not for first timers. I also think that the acting by Felicia Rose (Angela), and several of the other campers isn’t bad, especially given their age. And for once, they had real teens playing teenagers, rather than people over 20 or even 30 years old. I also love the sound of James Earl Jones’s dad’s voice as the assistant cook.

I also think the practical effects deserve a bit more credit, particularly the pulsating pustles after both the boiling water and bee sting deaths.

I can not recommend enough watching the GoodBadFlicks video on Sleepaway Camp. I think it’s a bit dated now, from a few years ago, but he highlights the work that the writer, director, and actors all went through to get the film made.

As to the sequels, I’ve seen each once, and didn’t care for them.

And as to the idea of good horror actors leading to a guaranteed good product, dare I bring up the absolute resume- embarrassment that is the star-studded “Death House” from just the other year?

Sleepaway Camp is amazing! Great 80's cheese plus that ending shook people back in the day. They did what they could with a shoestring budget in 1983 but they did have a saying during the slasher craze by producers that was "I don't want it done right, I want it done by Tuesday" I've also worked with
Felissa Rose before and she is such a sweetheart!

It’s totally not everyone’s cup of tea lol The Sleepaway Camp sequels are honestly so fun lol. They completely drop all seriousness and just go horror comedy, kinda bride of Chucky style

Badly Acted, Cheesy, Awfully Written Horror Movies : Gimme That

Award Winning, Well Crafted, High Rated Horror : I Don't Know About This, Maybe Watch This Later

(I Really Hate Myself For Being Like This😂)

For me it's one of those "so bad, that it's actually good" movies. If you take it for what it is, which is a campy 80s horror, it's a great watch.
And that ending. Oh boy, did it give me nightmares...

Honestly, I'd enjoyed this horror flick. 80s horror and 90s are best decades of horror .

The twist alone doesn't save this movie in my opinion, with that said I like this revisiting movies idea.

I would recommend checking out Nyx Fears new video on Sleepaway Camp to get the perspective of a trans horror fan.

Sleep away camp is only iconic for its plot twist change my mind.

I respectfully disagree. I knew the twist going in, and I still thoroughly enjoy this movie and love rewatching the movie and the sequels.
Also, Johnathan Tiersten (Ricky) played the hands, and an unnamed college student played...Peter.
