Love watching your videos! I didn’t know they had videos of barges like this on YouTube. I’m a cat fisherman and watch a lot of cat fishing videos. I worked for Mcintyres food store and Mid-Stream delivery service and then sold to Valcos located in Carrollton Kentucky. I was the meat cutter there for about 15 years and cut all the meat for the Barges on the Ohio river. ACBL, Ingram, etc. I went out on the river quite a bit to deliver also. Many many nights getting called in to come fill a boat order! I really miss it. Watching your videos brings back memories. Thanks! 🛥️

Well this was a fun find!

We've been living aboard our trawler(s) for about 8 years, mostly around the Gulf of Mexico, Florida, and the inland waterways. We decided to complete the Great Loop this year and just finished when we crossed our wake at Barkley Lock about two weeks ago.

Thank you so much for sharing the view from your pilothouse.

We hope you and your wife get out and do the Loop soon. We'll see you on the water!

I ran across your videos as I posted one of my looping videos. I really enjoyed seeing the river from your vantage point! There were a lot of loopers lined up! I only cruise at 5.5 to 6 knots so most looping boats leave me behind. chuckle. I can't wait to get back onto the loop for my next segment--it's a blast! Enjoyed your video and subscribed. Thanks for posting.

The Great Loop is a continuous waterway that recreational mariners can travel that includes part of the Atlantic, Gulf Intracoastal Waterways, the Great Lakes, Canadian Heritage Canals, and the inland rivers of America's heartland. Anyone who completes the journey is then named an official 'Looper.

Many years ago during the spring rise, I saw from my office window a blue, center cockpit, sailboat cruising down the river. Later on that fall while traveling south on I-55 I saw that same boat going back north on a special trailer.

Cool video I never been on that side of it. I was the guy in the runabout south of st louis with a cooler full and a locked up motor padlin my butt off. Nothing scarier than barges coming at ya. Ha childhood brought back memories thank you

Great video. Looping looks like it would be awesome fun. We followed the gent and his wife and dog in the Gibson. Great series. They sold the boat when they got home, quit their jobs and built a campground/marina in.Louisiana. They have 2 children now. I got a kick out of him.converting his city girl sophisticated wife.into an outdoor enthusiast. :)

First time watching. Enjoyed. In my 30's I looked pretty deep into living full time on a 40' saloon boat, but backed off because I thought I might get in over my head.

Fabulous to see loopers from you point of view, I'm used to hearing loopers talk about the barges.

Great video Capt.,
I believe that Crimson is an American Tug 362
You might consider joining the AGLCA it’s a wealth of information on the Great Loop.
Safe travels.

What's a "looper"? I thought that was a time traveller.

Some of them loopers are just damn loopy !
Here's some stats for when you wanna buy yourself one of them type vessels.
The first boat, was a Ranger Tug. The Absolute dreamboat of cruiser/trawler/tug type vessels.

31' Sedan
Volvo-Penta D4 diesel
1500rpm - 6-7 knots
only burning 1.5gph
3000rpm - 15 knots
and up to 10gph

Which brings me back to my LOOPY comment

That other cabin cruiser destroying shorelines with his 4ft wake, going 15-18knots in a twin screw gasser, that dummy got more money than brains OR he's running from his ex-wifes lawyer cuz running that cabin cruiser like that, each 7.4 litre gasser is drinking about 10-12 gallons per hour or damn close to $100/hour
whereas the fella in the Ranger Tug enjoying his day is only spending about $10/hr at most.

Anybody with an inch of common sense wouldn't spend $90/hr to go 10mph faster. You'll only gain 80-90 miles of distance per day in reality while spending your grandkids inheritance in one loop from the Great Lakes and back up the East Coast.

Yea, ,, I love those Ranger Tugs. 2024 Model starts around $425, 000.
Although a nice used one from 2010-2015 you can pickup for around $100k in great condition.

Thanks for the Views Captain.

Ps. Teach your viewers about vessels passing you and the terms
" One Whistle - Two Whistle " passing terminology.

Keep the shiny side up Coxswain !!
