This is my main camera for wedding headshots. I pair it with the 85mm 1.2 and it’s sharp! I love the rendering of the natural skin texture! Every canon camera after this one has this thin layer of softening when you zoom to skin. This camera amazes me every time

I love my old 5D too. Some friends are constantly upgrading to the latest and greatest. In reality, any decent body, great glass, knowledge, experimentation, shooting raw, location, right time and patience will get the best photos. Cartier-Bresson had great success with Leica rangefinders, 50mm lenses and fast B&W film.

Had mine since 2005 when it first came out. My daughter uses it now. Truly great camera!

Love the 5d Classic. Got it for 150 bucks a year ago and am in love with it. Slap a 40mm pancake or nifty fifty on and you have a superb setup for next to nothing.

By far this is one of the best digital cameras ever made

Canon really knocked it out of the park with the 5D series of cameras, there's some kind of magic on the sensors on those cameras.

I totally agree. Colours are simply amazing..I regret selling this 10 years ago and swapping it for 6D. Even though many say that 6D has colours almost similar to 5D I do not see it with my naked eye. I also had 40D and this was a gem, too. The build quality, the buttons layout, the accuracy, the exposure...no, no....High ISO perfomance is not important at all....exposure metering, autofocus accuracy and the most important aspect, colour rendition is what really matters the most.

I am a 5DM3 shooter. I bought mine new 8 years ago and loved the move from a 7D. I have always loved the full frame shallow DOF look. Mine hit 160K on the shutter this summer, so I thought this would be a good time to replace it. After a little looking and a failed eBay bid or two, I got one with 21K on the shutter for $800. It came with a few batteries, charger and a pinhole lens. I can see myself never buying another camera and being more careful with not taking too many throwaway images. Once you find your body, and have the supporting lenses, you don’t want to change.

I own my 5D, and a 7DMkII. I use my 5D specifically for sunsets and astrophotography. I use the 7D for landscape during the day. The 5D is amazing and has never disappointed. Camera is built like a tank

Thank you for the video.

I bought this camera used two years ago with a 2005 mindset. Therefore, didn't expect video or good high ISO performance. Use it for landscape, street photography and indoor portraiture.

Amazed that it can meet my requirements even today. I love the close to film look, lovely colors and easy operability. I also own 5DII and 5DIII. But whenever I decide to create images that should be most pleasing to my eyes; I pick up this camera without hesitation.

Sometimes pair it with Carl Zeiss Planar 50mm f/1.4 ZE T* manual focus lens. With this combo, a properly focused image is just stellar and unbeatable.

The colors are so good because they gave the sensor a very strong color filter array. At the cost of dynamic range and high iso performance. I still have my 5D classic and use it as a copy camera for digitizing color negatives. The strong CFA really gives great color separations.

This makes me want to pick up a 5D again. I've used every 5D (and now the R5) and you're not wrong about the colors. No other Canon has had quite the same look.

Lets not forget the fact that the 5D was (and is) a professional grade DSLR…. Of cause it takes amazing photos, a lot of ads and banners were shot with it!

I recently got back into macro photography and picked up an original 5D to get myself back in the groove of things. I ended up pairing it with a 29 year old Nikon 105mm macro lens that I found at a garage sale. I am over all impressed with the quality of the shots (especially with the whole setup costing under 200$). At that price it becomes the perfect toss in my bag and take anywhere kind of camera.

I absolutely love that 5D's are coming back into the mainstream. I remember seeing all the mirrorless bodies come out and thinking to myself, I can't imagine feeling the need to switch to a new system (yes, I know lens adapters make it trivial) when my good old 7D works just fine. Well, about a year ago I finally decided to upgrade to a brand new 5DS R straight from B&H for $1500. Absolutely the steal of the century. That camera is absolutely insane and I sincerely doubt that I will be in the market for a new still camera for several years. If I need another camera, I'll probably just buy another 5DS R used, or maybe a MK III. I've shot on the R5, R6, and several A7's and I'm just really not interested at all.

About a year ago I got myself a 5D-2 with a 28-135 IS USM lens for just 255.00 USD at a pawn shop, and after more than 20k pictures, I am not buying anything else again!!!! The images I am capturing are super, and the fact of having C1, C2 and C3 makes me easy to switch type of photography so fast!!!! I love this

A bunch of us suggested this 5 months ago in your comments on the MKII video, and I'm stoked you went ahead and gave it a try.
See : we ain't all crazy!

I recommend this setup all the time to beginner photog since they can get much more than the typical T7i (of course if they want video, there are more suitable cameras). Great video!
