Punk wasn't the biggest star in pro wrestling. His pay-per-view buys were lower than average, even during the summer of punk. ECW ratings went down when he was champion and went back up the week he was drafted off the show. Raw ratings went down with him as champion and went up afterward. Same as smackdown.
