A DVD of this should be provided with every new lathe sold. Absolutely first class.

Even a turner with a couple of years experience like myself can learn things by going back to the basics. Watching someone else go through the process can open our eyes to a bad habit or poor form that we've fallen into and the aha moment comes in and slaps us awake. I know you stay busy but it would be cool if you ever start making the rounds doing demos like the big names, I would love to be in your audience. You are the working mans instructor, no bull, an everyday guy helping neighbors for the joy of doing it. You are inspiring sir. Have a good day and God bless.

I can’t imagine the amount of time it takes to film and edit a video this long. A great service you’re doing

I just want to say thank you. Been watching you a couple of weeks. Bought a lathe a week ago and made a honey dipper and a bowl this morning. They didn't come out perfect but I had a blast making them. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. God Bless.

This is THE MOST informative and useful guide on YouTube not only to turn a bowl, but to turn wood in general. I wish I had seen this a year ago when I began turning. I actually learned a few things from this. Thanks for making these videos. They are most definitely helping people learn the craft.

I have no idea how you do it...
You presented more useful information in 1 hour than many schools in 1 year -_-
And i'm not even kidding...

I really cannot thank you enough I've learned so much about woodworking watching your vids. The level of detail for the beginner is amazing! I just bought my first lathe and was lost until I watched this. You are truly an awesome teacher. THANK YOU!!!

Best video on YouTube about this subject. I am new to turning and have not made a bowl yet. I need a tennis ball now.

Just watched this again (almost 3 years). I don't do turning everyday, I dabble in other crafts. I struggled the other week, turning a piece so this was a good refresher for me. As a novice turner I know that if I get it close, I can sand the rest out. Obviously if I can turn the wood to a nice finish then save a load of time and effort from sanding or even items that have exploded from an incorrect cut approach. It's a shame I can't like it twice.

I don't own any of this equipment and I've never used a lathe, but this video is one of the best introductory videos I've seen on the subject. You've really done a great job explaining some basic concepts for us newbies. Thanks for the great lesson!

For years my method has been to find somebody who is my "go-to" person when learning new techniques, (sharpening, dovetails, box joints, etc.) I've been subscribed for a while but have recently decided to get into bowls after years of doing pens. You are now my "go-to" bowl guy. :-)

Lots of turning channels out there but yours are the most informative. You are a natural born teacher.
