Milano Fragranze - Basilica

As part of our series spotlighting the finalists of The Art and Olfaction Awards 2022, we take a look at Basilica by Milano Fragranza.

I've tried all eight of the first fragrance releases from Milano Fragranze, and "Basilica" was always my favorite one. "Basilica" is actually one of my favorite fragrances. I own one 3.4 oz. bottle of it and I'm planning to get a backup bottle of it. I'm always glad to find fragrances which I take seriously: fragrances which I would insist on having for the rest of my life, and "Basilica" is that kind of fragrance for me. I like some of the other ones from their first eight releases, e.g. especially "Diurno", "Naviglio", "Cortile", and more, but "Basilica" is by far my favorite one. I don't prefer "Galleria", but I plan to give it another try.

I love Basilica on my skin. It's a beautiful sweet milky incense on me. I got my Milano Fragranze discovery set from Perfume Playground UK💫💫

I live near Milan so I got the full sample set when the brand first launched. They're more situational scents than things to wear, and in this case I think the aromatic herbs are Sunday lunch after church. But I wouldn't wear it because I'm not a roast potato. I'm interested in trying their new Piazza Affari though.

I tried this in Fortnum & Mason recently and can’t stop thinking about it. On my skin it was a milky, herbal, lightly incense gourmand, and it’s the sweetness that pulled me in. Contrarily, the one I had expected to be majorly gourmand, Panettone started off cakey but lost its sweetness on me. Both have me wanting more sniffs, however. Do try Basilica on the skin because it seems like it may pull different ways on people… I loved it!

As someone who has been wearing a lot of syrupy gum resin attars, I found this quite refreshing. The herbal top notes go so well with the lemon like high notes in frankincense and surprisingly the milk accord blended beautifully like a light creamy tea kind of fragrance. Definitely not groundbreaking or anything but enjoyable for a change of pace between heavier autumn fragrances. By the way, Cooks Country has a fantastic (and foolproof 😅) lasagna recipe using a mushroom béchamel. Thank you for the reviews,

Great scent and the line is great for it's price, but not sure why it would be considered for any awards tbh. It's not on the level on Masque either.
