My Most Recommend Piece of Electronic Music Gear

A short while ago, someone asked me what piece of electronic music gear I would most recommend, just in general. I thought for a while about it, but I'm now positive that I would recommend the Korg NTS-1. Since I first got my hands on this powerhouse of a device, it's been my go to effects unit, a quick and easy synth for sampling, and a near endless source of musical practicality and entertainment! I highly recommend to anyone who doesn't have one yet, it truly is fantastic for the price! Enjoy the video :)

What would be really cool would be for Korg to release the NTS-1 in the Volca format. If you just put exactly the same thing in a Volca box for about $120-$150 it would be good value.

But imagine you got the Volca sequencer / keystrip and slightly more robust construction. And maybe generously Korg could give you 2 oscillators with some cross-modulation.

That would be a no-brainer for anyone in the Volca world. And probably pretty much everyone in the budget synth world.

I totally agree with you ! So much features for such a little price, especially during promotional events ! If you are on a budget, just wait a little bit to buy it, it is regularly discounted (at least where I live).

I personaly use it mostly for its fx, but I still have to explore its oscilators (custom or not). One convenient option to send midi notes in it is to use the Roland J-6.

Don't be afraid with custom oscillators and fx, it is really straight forward to install them and it really expands its possibilities !

i found an open box NTS-1 for $80 and it is best bang for buck ever! i barely even scratched the surface of it.

I totally dig my little NTS-1... I sometimes forget about it, but love it when I see you break it out, which always makes me do the same. I been thinking about getting a second one, just cause it'd be fun!

NTS-1 is an amazing bit of kit. I think the whole point was to create something that people could use to experiment with to create new oscillators and FX for for the prologue range, however it took off in it's own right because the bang for buck is unbelievable. Also explains why it was sent out in kit form, because it was designed for people to tinker with.

Should really pair it with the korg power tube reactor and get some tube saturation and compression to make it sound massive.

I use it as outboard gear with my guitar setup. Nothing like a bit of ping pong delay with sub-reverb

Such a useful Multitool. It's a good effects machine for my Moog's.

Yup, i could see this coming. The NTS-1 is a true Swiss Army Knife of synths, especially with all the user oscillators. But also worth a mention- it sounds great- big and deep.

yes i love mine so much and with added fact you can download and install extra features why would you not want one and the sound scapes you can produce out of it are nothing short pf amazing !! i have spent 10s of hours just fiddling and tweeking rather than make a musical piece lol!! this thing is just amazing!!!! i would recommend everyone to buy one or two!!
