#6 Rachmaninoff, then #4 Schumann. As much as I like Debussy (as I’ve said before here) Rachmaninoff soars into a grand, ecstatic theme, like a passionate love story. (Dr. Zhivago, but happier?) Schumann is quieter, almost introspective and therefore seems more intimate, like a quiet “I love you!” It’s funny what different music evokes, eh Maestro Nathan?
