Welcome to a SPECIAL installment of Harry Potter Theory. Today we’re going to be diving back through the years on the channel and discussing 15 Harry Potter Theories that all pertain to Hogwarts Headmaster ALBUS DUMBLEDORE.

The range of theories is pretty broad, and they paint Dumbledore in a bunch of different lights. From his covered-up survival, to his secret talents, all the way to his DARKER motivations, these theories cover it all.

As this is a compilation style video spanning YEARS of the channel please be aware of some varied audio levels, inconsistent numbering and some (but hopefully not too much) repeated information.

Anyway, without further do- sit back, relax and enjoy 15 theories about Albus Dumbledore.

Can’t help but imagine Dumbledore defending himself against Harry saying ‘BUT DID YOU DIE?’ Since Harry visited limbo

I don’t know why this just occurred to me, but I wonder if “crossing a river” is an analogy for some other threshold that the three brothers crossed in their magical experimentation that would have angered death. Simply crossing a literal river seems pretty basic to anger literal death

I beg to differ on the point of Dumbledore raising Harry only to have him die. This may have been factual up until Goblet Of Fire but as soon as Dumby learned that Voldemort used Harry's blood to resurrect himself, he either knew or strongly believed that the blood was Harry's ticket to life. He couldn't let anyone know what he believed because Harry had to BELIEVE that he was going to die. Harry, believing that he was going to die also let him cast the same protection spell that his mother did for him. No one else knew that Voldy could not kill him as they both shared Lily's blood.

Why do folk still say he 'raised him as a pig for slaughter'? As soon as he heard baldydork had taken Harry's blood he knew he had him. He wouldn't be able to kill Harry cos of the blood, it was deep, ancient magic and I believe Dumbledore wasn't totally sure that Harry would be ok but he was sure enough. Im not saying Dumbledore didn't routinely put children in danger and scare the shite out of them. But I think he had enough understanding of the old magic to be fairly sure he'd survive.

There was numerous times when Dumbledore didn't really know what Tom Riddle was doing and didn't know about the horcruxes until later. But Dumbledore planted the horcrux book? This makes no sense.

Death couldn't see through the invincibility cloak? But Mad Eye Moody could? 🤔 Hmmm

I don’t get the need some have to paint Dumbledore as a dark character.

Yes he went through a phase in adolescence where, influenced by a very dark character he dabbled with evil ideas. He behaved badly towards his family in his grief, and he may have accidentally killed his sister. But he pulled back from that path at an early stage and lived his life in the service of Wizardkind. He was clearly a good, or even a great man, as well as a great wizard.

Theory... Dumbledore always believed in questionable plans for the greater good. And who else would he fear to discover his secret plans then his staff? My theory is that Dumbledore is intentionally helping rule breaking students in order to keep his staff distracted. For example i think Dumbledore taught the mauraders how to turn into animals and helped them create the mauraders map as well as teach fred qnd George how to use it... What better way to keep your staff busy then help your rule breaking students and then choose to never let them get expelled?

Just a thought.
Could it be that Dumbledore found a loophole in creating a horcrux?
He might have "killed" his Phoenix, who would then have been reborn from the ashes.
No major harm done, and might have somewhat satisfied the requirements.

it always felt weird to me that dumbledore seemingly could see harry despite being hidden by the cloak if not even death could find you while wearing it

The Dumbledore horcrux thing: I think that if he had used Fawks as a horcrux, that would have destroyed the horcrux the first time that the phoenix went through the burn and rebirth cycle. Even if the Elder wand had been in his possession at the time, the film version has Harry snap that wand like a dry twig. the other horcruxes we encounterd were nigh indestructible. Although I even take things taken from interviews with the author with a grain of salt, if Dumbledore did make a horcrux, it wasn't in either of those items.

I feel like "Dark Dumbledore" would be less of a thing had Michael Gambon (all due respect) not played him like a neurotic prep school instructor.
