Samsung's announcement of the Galaxy Note 7 was an interesting experience. While we walked into the event expecting to be disappointed over a device that didn't push the boundaries of existing technology, we actually walked out with a very different impression. It turns out that even if this device is not the spec beast that we wished for, that doesn't necessarily mean that it's a bad phone in any way. Actually this is the other way around. The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 has enough power to become one of the best smartphones of 2016, if not the best, and we decided to talk a little about the reasons why, just before our review period begins.

man the past 3 months i thought the note 7 was going to have beast specs but it turns out it was basically the same phone as the s7 with a few bew features

Idk personally I feel like people's complaints with this phone not being a "Note" are a bit ridiculous. The current age we are in with smartphones is hard to push the envelope. It's hard to innovate and stand away from the crowd. Then again, I haven't been with the note series from the beginning. I got into tech the year the Note 4 came out, so I don't have that background. But at the same time, I feel people need to look at this phone for what it is. A 2016 flagship. And as a 2016 flagship, it's pretty damn good. I don't honestly know what else Samsung could've done to make this better

Love the Note series. I have to be honest. This makes me want to get a note 4 with its removable batt and wait for a note 7 ROM to flash to it. I don't see why they didn't just jump to the Note 8. Sticking with my V10 till next year.

i think samsung was just being careful with future snapdragons processors after SD810 fail. Theyre playing safe with SD820 and not 821 etc

I was very excited for note 7 just for the sd card slot coming back, I held myself from buying note 5 just for the rumours I heard about the card slot returning. But after seeing the phone and hearing everthing I just can't wait to own it because it is such a package of a phone. In love with the design, camera and everything else. And I must admit to thinking the iris scanner as a gimmik but so proud of samsung to pull such an all rounder of a phone.

I wish that Samsung would have waited for the snapdragon 821 and then release the note 7 so it would have been the powerhouse the note was known for.

Great to see you together lads! The N7 is an extremely compelling prospect. As a senior designer, the ability to have a miniaturised, secure workstation with me 24/7 means that any fleeting idea or concept can be captured in detail with the pen. My Note 4 was the Starbucks-hosted venue for the start of two major projects, for example. The price is somewhat extreme, but the N7 is likely to be my next device.

Note 3, 4, 5 User but I think im gonna hold out for the S8. Don't get me wrong, it's a improvement over the Note 5 but not a, I can't wait 8months til the S8 kind of improvement.

I pre ordered my Note 7 yesterday. Feeling like a kid before Christmas. Can't wait. Switching back to Samsung from Iphone 6s.
